"Pidgey!"
"Geo!"
"Spin! Spin!"
The three pokémon looked at Bob.
"So, I called this meeting as we are going to be tackling the Violet City gym," Bob explained.
"I know this is a flying type gym, so Spinarak, this one you'll be sitting out,"
Spinarak sighed after hearing that.
"So I'll be using you three,"
Dio squawked in agreement, wanting to extend his streak. Geodude nodded, wanting to help.
"Quil," Guts replied, half sure.
"Pidgey?" Dio asked, pointing his wing at Guts.
"Don't mind Guts, he took another loss," Bob replied, which got a snicker from Dio.
"Either way, there is something I didn't tell you two," he continued, looking at Geodude and Spinarak, "I have a record of all your battles, so for the future, try your best,"
"Also, if allowed, don't be afraid to switch out, you are risking your records on this, so it's better not to faint, understand?"
He received nods.
"Okay," Bob muttered, returning everyone but Guts, "alright, that revive must've not healed you to the fullest, so let me use a potion,"
He took out a purple bottle and aimed it at the fire-type.
With a press of the handle, Bob sprayed Guts all over.
'It should be used up now, but it still has a lot left,' Bob thought, putting it away, 'Cool,'
Guts yawned, feeling a little better.
"You look better," Bob said, "you know, Lyra did say Griffith was undefeated,"
"Cyndaquil?" Guts asked.
Bob nodded, "And I believe you are the only one capable of inflicting a loss on her,"
Saying this, Guts began to feel the burning sensation again.
"So, you ready to tackle this gym?"
"Cynda!" Guts replied, which Bob responded by putting him away in the pokéball.
Now, with the team set, Bob entered the building.
Inside, it was decorated with blue walls with white clouds on it.
In some places, a breeze blew, make shifting the feeling of being in the air.
'Okay,' Bob thought, walking forward, 'now to find Falkner,'
So he walked, admiring the inside, until a voice stopped him.
"Halt!"
It nearly made him jump out of his skin, but he saw a man wearing a blue sweater and shorts.
"You are here to challenge Falkner, correct?" He questioned. Bob thought he was being interrogated.
He nodded, however.
"Then you'll have to get through me if you want to see him!" The guy moved back, creating space for the battlefield.
'Alright, let's use Geodude,' Bob thought, watching the enemy pokémon appear.
"Doduo," It cried, both of its heads glaring forward.
'Doduo? Wonder how Wing Attack will look on it,' Bob threw his pokéball as well.
"Geo!" Geodude cried, perplexed upon seeing the two heads.
"Type advantage? Maybe you are fit enough," The guy said, "Doduo, use Growl,"
The flying-type heard this, and the two heads let out a low growl.
"Dude?" The rock-type turned his head.
"Rock Throw, Geodude,"
"Fury Attack!" Before Geodude could pick up a rock, he was jabbed in the face by a beak.
Then again.
For a while, Geodude had to resist the jabs.
He wanted to pick up a rock, but he couldn't.
'Damn,' Bob thought, "Use Rollout,"
"Go for peck, Doduo!"
As the flying-type was ready to peck him apart, Geodude began to roll.
This smashed right on into Doduo, sending it back, but causing Geodude to leave the Rollout.
"Duo," Now, it was injured.
"Use Rock Throw, now,"
This time, the rock-type took advantage of the recovering bird and lifted a rock out of nowhere, and lunged at it.
Doduo retaliated with a knockout.
"Mmm," The trainer said, returning the battered bird, "Go, Pidgey!"
The new pokémon let out a cry.
Bob switched the rock type for Dio.
Dio didn't speak. He only focused on his brethren in front of him.
"Quick Attack," Funny enough, both trainers spoke this.
The two flying-types disappeared, then reappeared, colliding into one another.
"Pidgey!" One screamed in pain, falling.
The other, Dio, dived with it, his wings glowing.
'He'll just have to learn,' Bob thought, bearing witness to the attack taking effect.
The enemy Pidgey fell down, unconscious.
Dio raised his beak as if it was not a challenge.
"Wha..." The guy was surprised, but switched out his Pidgey, "maybe I should have trained them more,"
"Spearow!" Spearow cawed, flicking its feet.
Bob switched out Dio and brought in Guts.
"Cyndaquil," Guts was ready to rip apart his opponent.
"Spearow, show them Peck!"
Spearow flew forward and pecked at Guts.
"Leer,"
Then the flying type froze upon seeing the fearful gaze from the fire-type.
"Quick Attack,"
Soon, Guts flashed into Spearow.
"Spear!" It cried, flying back.
"Hit with Assurance!"
'Huh?'
Right then, as the flying-type dashed again, it had a darkness radiating from it. When Spearow slammed into Guts, he felt his breath release as he slid back.
'Fascinating,' Bob thought, "Guts, Ember,"
The fire-type spewed out a blast of heat, coating the Spearow, nearly turning it into a cooked meal.
"Flame Wheel,"
As Spearow refocused, it was hit by a spinning ball of fire.
The flying-type fell back, not getting up again.
"Damn," The trainer said, returning Spearow, "you can go through,"
"Thanks," Bob said, "Nice work, Guts, you came back again,"
The fire-type had a stupid grin on his face upon hearing that.
"There'll be one more trainer before Falkner," The guy spoke, "wonder how you will fare,"
Bob nodded, returned Guts, and continued to walk, hoping to go in the right direction.
It was a little confusing where to go, but Bob was sure as he came across another trainer.
Wearing the same clothes as the guy before, he walked up to Bob.
"You made it past the first? You are almost ready," The guy spoke, creating space, then releasing a pokémon.
Bob did so as well.
"Pidgey!" Pidgey yelled, excited for battle.
"Cyndaquil!" Guts was also excited.
"Quickly, Pidgey, use Gust!"
Next, a large force of wind lumbered towards Guts.
"Guts, Quick Attack,"
After the battle with Totodile, Guts had a feeling that there was more to the command.
So he dashed, dodging the attack, and headed straight for the flying type.
But with sand flung in his face, the attack halted.
"Sand Attack, now use Wing Attack!"
"Flame Wheel," Bob muttered, and Guts fought the shining wings with his spinning body enveloped in fire.
BOOM!
The two pokémon fell back. Pidgey breathing heavily, while Guts' back grew in flames.
"Ember, but charge it,"
Guts did this and led the enemy trainer to confusion.
"Pidgey, Quick Attack, Now!"
The flying-type vanished, then smashed into Guts.
However, this did not stop the powerful beam of fire from swallowing the flying-type whole.
"Cynda..." By now, Guts was injured, but Pidgey? Now a burned crisp, sleeping on the ground.
"What a battle," The guy said, switching the Pidgey, "It's not over, though,"
"Spearow!" It shouted.
'Here we go again,' Bob thought, switching out Guts.
"Pidgey," Dio cried, narrowing his eyes at his foe.
"Use Wing Attack,"
This time, Dio listened, and flew towards the flying-type, wings glowing.
"Use Leer, then Fury Attack!"
So Dio was caught off guard when the Spearow glared at him.
He then used Gust instead, flapping his wings.
This led to Dio getting hit multiple times in the face, and actually getting hurt.
'that's what he gets,' Bob thought, "Use Sand Attack, then Wing Attack,"
"Pidgey!" Dio landed on the ground, and threw sand up into the air, leading Spearow to look away.
That gave Dio enough time to bash into the flying-type with shiny wings.
"Spear!" Spearow recovered.
"Use Peck!"
"Dio, Quick Attack,"
As Spearow came rushing before him, Bob saw Dio strike a pose. He facepalmed.
'I forgot about the JoJo poses,'
But, in those few seconds, Dio flew forward, bashing into Spearow.
He took damage, but it was more on the other side.
Spearow had been defeated.
Dio bowed.
"Not bad," The guy spoke, returning Spearow, and throwing another pokéball.
'Okay, last one,' Bob thought, returning Dio, and throwing out Geodude.
"Hoothoot!" The Hoothoot said, standing with its legs closed.
"Geodude," Geodude said.
"Use Rock Throw,"
Geodude heard this, and grabbed a rock to lob it.
"Hoothoot, Echoed Voice,"
As the rock-type was in the motion, a force pushed it back, making him drop the rock.
Then, another shout, Geodude was sent back.
'Damn,' Bob thought, "Geodude, Rollout,"
"Dude!" He rolled forward, arms tucked in, and this turned him into a runaway boulder.
"Use Echoed Voice again!"
"Hoot!" Hoothoot let out a shout that effectively stopped the Rollout, sending Geodude flying back again.
"Geo," He groaned, looking at Bob.
'Let's take a different approach,'
"Geodude, use Defense Curl," Bob only needed to say that for Geodude to nod.
He huddled up, getting a green hue.
"That won't stop anything, Hoothoot, another Echoed Voice,"
Another shout came, but Geodude made sure to float to a certain place.
On the battleground, to the right, there was a wall. This wall was part of Geodude's plan.
As a wave of noise bashed against the rock type, he made sure to fly and bounce off the wall, floating near to Hoothoot.
Near enough, he began to roll.
By the time Hoothoot had unleashed the next wave, it was hit by a rolling Geodude.
This didn't end, as Geodude made sure to hit the flying-type again.
Unrolling, Geodude sighed upon seeing the knocked-out Hoothoot.
The two trainers returned their pokémon.
"Hm," The man said, "keep walking down this way, and you'll see Falkner. You can rest your pokémon here before you go,"
He walked away, leaving Bob alone.
'Better do that,' He thought, placing his bag down, and pulling out a purple bottle, 'before I do that though,'
The pencil and book appeared in his hands.
When he was done, Bob took a look.
