The chief Sceerk looked exactly like a chief of a wild tribe of demi-humans was supposed to look in Cael's imagination. He was broad-shouldered and muscular, with his skin of a deep purple hue. His chest was adorned with a necklace made from bones—fish, Cael guessed—and on his head Sceerk wore a headdress made from teeth. Each of them was the size of Cael's pinky finger.
He was also stemming with anger he didn't try to hide, and was accompanied by four merfolk warriors that looked like they could be his brothers.
Pietro was translating for humans, while Citskii did the same for merfolk. And from Pietro's words, Sceerk expressed apparent doubts that he should trust any suggestion from a human.
"Not promising," Tarek muttered, then grinned at the merfolk chief. "But you came to listen to us, didn't you?"
Sceerk said that only in hopes that they would apologize for the actions of kidnappers and return the victims.
