"The truth is out. Everyone knows exactly who you are now, " I alerted him. 

"With or without my mask, I'm a villain in their story," Prince Zephirin spoke up, "They've always known exactly who I am, " he added. 

His statement hurt my soul. His whole life he's been treated harshly by the people that were supposed to protect him. 

The King and queen abandoned him at a young age, after scarring him for life. Prince Zephirin didn't talk about his parents or his experience at all. Not even by accident, he spoke of everything else in the world except his scars. 

I worried what would happen when he learned that the second prince was in my chambers as we spoke. All his life he's had to watch his birthrights passed on to someone else for something that was beyond his control. Although he didn't talk about it, I knew he hated his brother for it.
