Caleb squinted his eyes threateningly.
"What did you say? You think other men are better than me?" He asked calmly.
There was a hidden danger in his cold voice.
Macie was about to nod her head when she saw a certain someone standing up from his office chair and approaching her slowly like a cheetah walking towards its prey.
Scared, she took steps backwards until her body collided with the door.
"Aaah!" Macie let out a low scream, scared like a little deer.
She turned towards the door and tried to open it however, it was locked.
'Shit! Damn it!'
Caleb smirked cruelly before standing before her with a casual demeanour.
"Little bunny..." He called out to her using his seductive voice.
Macie felt so disgusted.
"Playboy, don't call me the names you use to address your harlots!" She snapped.
"Oh, really?" Caleb sneered and put his hands on both sides of the door, trapping Macie between them.
"Then how can I address you? Should I call you Amelia? Amelia Parker?" Bending down slightly, Caleb whispered to her ear, making her tickle.
Macie gritted her teeth.
"Psycho, it's Amelia Carter, not Parker!" Macie gasped as soon as she finished talking.
Panicked, she covered her mouth, widening her eyes.
Caleb chuckled and shook his head.
His face turned serious once again when he said, "You're a spy, right? A rich, young lady from an upper-class family can do such shameless things as spying on others' companies. 'Disgusting' isn't the best word to describe people like you. You're more than that. I mean, cheaper and lower..."
'Smack!'
Amelia gave him a hefty slap across his face. Her chest heaved up and down fast as her tiny face flushed red in anger.
"Shut the fuck up!" She yelled. "Or else..."
Caleb was still in a daze. No one dared to slap him in his entire lifetime, not even his mother. But someone, that meant 'a girl' actually dared to do so! It was his bottom line and she touched it without knowing how dangerous it was.
Caleb touched his sore cheek before asking, "Amelia Carter, Did you just slap me?"
Amelia came back to her senses instantly. Her face paled in fear.
'Aah, what should I do? I wish I know how to fight so that I can smack his dog head and run away!'
Amelia clenched her fists before giving him a sweet smile.
"Am I not your soon-to-be-wife? Your fiancée? So, isn't it one of my rights to hit you?"
Caleb gritted his teeth.
"No one can hit another person."
"Okay, then. I'm sorry. I won't do that again." Saying that Amelia crossed her arms over her chest. "Now, it's your turn."
Caleb raised his eyebrows. "My turn for what?"
"What else? Apologize to me, SIR."
Caleb snorted coldly.
"I have never apologized to anyone. Not even my mother."
Amelia couldn't believe her ears. Can someone be proud of such things?
"Are you for real? How can you do that? Don't be so arrogant."
"No, no. Wait right there." Caleb blurted out, hitting the door.
"I couldn't ask the reason. Why should I apologize to you when you are the one who's wrong here? You spied on another company for god's sake, and more importantly, it's my company, my empire."
Amelia rolled her eyes. 'Empire? Really?'
"No, I didn't wanna spy on your company. It's just that when I graduated from the university, my father requested me to join Langstone Corporation as a secretary. That way, I can learn the tips from your company so that I can develop our company to another level by using your methods. It calls learning. Not spying!" She explained.
"Oh really? Why did you fake your identity then?" Caleb asked mockingly. "Find better excuses next time."
Amelia sighed.
"Alas, why can't you understand me? If I used my real identity, would you accept me, the daughter of the owner of one of your opponents' companies, as your secretary? No, right?"
Caleb pondered for a moment when he heard that before speaking again.
"Nah, actually. I would have considered it. If it's for learning, why should I prevent you from doing so?"
Amelia's eyes lit up. She was about to praise him for his thoughtfulness until... he spoke again before she could talk.
"But the thing is you're actually lying. What a pathetic liar."
Amelia inhaled and exhaled long breaths.
'Calm down! You can't kill this bastard!'
"Ahem, let's go now," Caleb said before unlocking the door and grabbing her wrist.
"Let's go where?"
"To your home, obviously. Today is the only day you can stay with your parents and siblings because... tomorrow, you'll be my wife and start living with me." He explained while dragging her towards the elevator.
"Wait, I didn't buy my stuff yet," Amelia remarked, trying to break free from his clutch.
After taking her bag and phone, Amelia sat on the passenger seat of her boss's Range Rover.
She looked outside the window for a few minutes before turning to Caleb.
Soon, his perfect side profile came into her view. He had a pointed, straight nose, an attractive jawline and a honey colour skin. His long eyelashes were trembling slightly, making shadows underneath his lower eyelids. He was such a handsome young man. A breathtakingly good-looking devil.
'Aaah, what a huge feast to the eyes!' Amelia sighed inside her heart. 'Pretty boys are too much.'
Caleb looked at her sideways before averting his gaze towards the road again.
"I know I'm handsome. No need to drool over my perfection." He scoffed with a playful smirk.
Amelia snapped out of her daze. Soon, her face turned red like a tomato.
She wanted to say that she didn't drool over him however, she knew that it was a lie. Hence, she could only huff and mutter, "Everyone's not perfect..."
"Except me," Caleb added to her sentence.
Amelia was speechless. She just shook her head and turned to the window again, leaning against the seat comfortably while putting her head on the bottom of the side car window. Not long after, she dozed off completely because of exhaustion.
'Aaaah, I should have called the driver. So that, I must be taking a nap as well right now.' Caleb enviously thought, looking at Amelia's peaceful sleeping figure.
"Why do you want to marry me? You didn't explain to me clearly when I asked you earlier." Amelia mumbled, her eyes closed. Apparently, she wasn't sleeping.
"You'll find it out very soon," Caleb answered. "It's just a matter of fifteen minutes."
Amelia smiled a little. "Impressive, boss. You investigated me, right? That's how you got my real address." She said, disappointed.
Caleb shrugged his shoulders. "It's a piece of cake."
Amelia sighed. "I know, I know. You're our domineering CEO after all."
Caleb chuckled a bit. The grudge he held against her, faded away bit by bit. But 'NOT COMPLETELY.' She was a scheming woman after all.
"Wait, Caley. My things... They are at my current apartment. How can I stay at my parents' house when my belongings are still there?" Amelia questioned out of the blue in a panicked voice.
"Don't worry, I'll ask John to bring them over to my house by tomorrow. For today, you have to bear with it. It's your home, Amelia. You'll obviously find something to wear and a toothbrush to brush your teeth."
"Hmm..."
They fell silent after that.
Suddenly, the both of them blurted out, "Wait" simultaneously.
Caleb: "Wait. Did you just call me Caley? The heck!"
Amelia: "Wait, weren't you kidding earlier? I have to stay at your freaking house? What the f!"
"Caleb Langstone!"
"Amelia Parker!"
"Ugh, rascal. It's Carter. Not Parker!"
"Parker."
"Caley."
"Parker~"
"Caley~"
"Shut up or else I'll pull your tongue out of your mouth!"
"You shut up otherwise I'll pounce on your neck and suck every single blood drop out of your body like a vampire."
"Dream on, Amelia Parker."
"You wish, Caley Langstone."
They argued and scolded each other until they reached Amelia's house.
Her house was situated on a corner of Milfine Street. That street was famous for many mansions and villas of wealthy people, especially business families.
The facilities there were great and adding the fact that the street wasn't crowded with many people, lots of rich people chose Milfine Street to build their dreamy houses.
The old butler looked at the young man who was in his late twenties. His face was serious and his entire persona emitted a coldness that could freeze someone's bones. Clearly, he didn't feel happy upon seeing a living ice cube though he was quite handsome.
As soon as Caleb got out of the car, he ignored the butler who gave him a suspicious look and went towards the passenger door and opened it for Amelia.
The butler's lips curved into a beaming smile and his eyes turned red as soon as he spotted the elegant and simple-looking beautiful young lady.
"Young miss." He blurted out, tears welling up in his eyes.
