Trick 73: Coming back to life!
Ace felt like he was sinking in an abyss before being pulled randomly.
He fell onto a pitch black ground and stood up, looking around at the endless expanse of sheer darkness. He scratched his head and the world lit up, looking very drab and dark.
It was really gloomy and Ace muttered "I'm in hell? Wow. Shows what being a good person does…" before he could process the fact that he was damned to suffer for eternity according to the bible, a voice spoke all around him, "You are not in Hell, Ace Brand."
Ace looked around and put up his hands, but no magic came out. Then he realized that he was dead and put his hands down, not scared at all.
He was already dead, what was there to be scared of?
He was only wearing pants and shoes at this point, he put his hands in his pocket and looked at the darkness converging into a being. It was an extremely beautiful woman!
Ace looked at her and said "You should be… Mistress Death?" The woman shook her head and said "No. I am simply one of the Master's servants of death." Ace looked around and walked over, asking "So what now? Do I have a greater purpose now that I'm dead? I need to serve Death herself or what?"
The servant was stunned and Ace sighed "Nothing? What a sham." as he held his hands behind his head, walking away, "I guess I'll just walk." the servant followed him, saying "Aren't you worried?"
Ace snorted "Worried? Why would I be worried?" The servant blinked and explained "Because you're dead? Most usually panic and beg to return, let their family know they're alright, something? Anything?"
Ace tilted his head and held his fingers, replying "I don't have any family, it would be cool if I could go back, and I don't really have any real friends so. I'm just kinda feeling meh about the situation to be honest."
The Servant was speechless and Ace pulled her next to him, continuing "Listen, I know that Mistress Death is like this Cosmic Entity, so if I'm not special enough to be a servant, I wouldn't get the chance to be resurrected, right? So why even worry? I saved as many people as possible when I was alive, I was going to die sooner or later, so why not now."
He shrugged at the Servant girl before looking around, asking "You know where Cedric Diggory is? I need to apologize to the boy, died because of me." he paused before chuckling "Well I guess we're even."
As he hummed to himself walking away to look for Cedric.
The Servant couldn't even speak out of sheer dumbfoundment, but quickly ran after Ace, shouting "Hey! Wait! Wait a second! I saw your record! You were extremely abhorrent of death before what happened?!"
Ace looked at her strangely, asking "You have records down here?" then his eyes lit up, asking "Any magic?!" The servant shouted "I'm asking you a question!" Ace rubbed his hands and said quickly "I don't like other people dying. A personal preference. I died instead of someone else, that's best case scenario. Anyway! Magic time???"
The Servant stomped her foot and shouted "What magic?! There is no magic! You're dead! Freak out now!" Ace frowned and looked at her, asking "Are you alright?" the Servant teared up, shouting "No! All the others say that watching dead people freak out is really fun! This is my first day and you're not freaking out, they're gonna make fun of me!"
Before sitting on the ground and hugging her knees.
Ace was speechless, he patted her shoulder, saying "Um.. There, there. I can freak out if you want…" the Servant swatted his hand, crying "I don't need your pity freak out!" Ace swallowed and said "Uh, what's your name?"
The Servant cried, "I don't have a name! I'm just a Servant." Ace was startled and replied "How can you not have a name, wouldn't everyone be called servant, then you wouldn't be any different."
The servant started crying louder, "I'm not unique!? Nobody said dead people would be so mean!" Ace was stunned and said quickly "Who said you weren't unique! I'm dead, why are you the one crying?" The servant girl cried, "Because! Yo-You're so mean to me and It's my first day and you're my first dead person and you're a meanie and I hate you!"
Ace blurted "How old are you?" The Servant girl wiped her eyes and sniffled, "1900! I'm just a girl!" Ace was stunned and closed his mouth in case he made her cry again. He licked his lips and said "Okay, how about I give you a name?"
The Servant girl sniffled and looked at him, "A n-n-n-name?" Ace nodded quickly, saying "Yeah! A name! That could be fun!" The girl sniffled, wiping her nose with her arm, saying "O-Okay…"
Ace cleared his throat and said "Hmmm… How about Vanessa?" the girl sniffled, asking "Vanessa? That's nice." Ace smiled and helped her up, saying "So Vanessa it is!" Vanessa rubbed her eyes and smiled "I like it."
Ace smiled and wiped her tears away joking "Just don't start crying again… What do you like to do, Vanessa?" Vanessa replied with a pout "Watch the Souls of the Damned burn for eternity." Ace's lips twitched and he replied "Can't relate. I've never seen Souls burn."
Vanessa's eyes lit up and she grabbed his hand, running off, saying "It's so much fun! They scream and go 'Oh no! The Pain! Ahh!' Hahahaha!" Ace's eyes twitched, asking "Is that all there is to do here? You don't have TV?"
Vanessa looked at him strangely, asking "What's TV?" Ace smirked and said "Well! It's a box that plays videos! There's all sorts of shows and movies on it, so many in fact that you could never get bore-" before he vanished into a puff of green smoke.
Vanessa looked around, shouting "Ace! Ace?!" before biting her nails and tearing up "Oh no! Mistress is going to hit me again…" as she rubbed the top of her head, running off.
Ace sat up and sucked in short breaths, touching his chest as he looked around to see Frigga smiling at him. He asked "I'm alive?! But I-" Frigga smiled and shushed him, saying "Yes, you died briefly, luckily we managed to save your life."
Ace looked at his chest only to see no sword scar, Frigga remarked "Asgardian Technology is quite something, isn't it?" Ace nodded and let out a breath, saying sincerely "I'm in your deb-"
Frigga was stunned and stopped him, saying "That's not necessary, Ace. Truly, you saved my life, I am in your debt." Ace felt uncomfortable, replying "I don't thin-" Frigga shushed him, smiling "My good boy, you saved the Queen of Asgard, this is a debt owed to you by the entirety of Asgard, not just me."
Ace opened his mouth but Frigga glared at him and he shut it, looking down as though he did something wrong. It wasn't his fault, Frigga gave off a motherly aura.
She helped him off the Soul Forge and smiled "Come now, I believe we weren't quite finished our lesson?" Ace's eyes sparkled but they dimmed as he frowned, "The Dark Elves…"
Frigga smiled and said "The problem has been taken care of." just as she said that, Thor rushed in with blood all over his face, laughing "My friend! You have survived death itself! Hahahaha!" as he hugged Ace tightly.
Ace cleared his throat as he was having a hard time breathing. Frigga patted Thor and gave him a look. Thor swallowed and backed off, smiling "As soon as I finish Mal-" Frigga glared at him and Thor laughed "The feast will begin shortly, my friend! I just need to return Jane to Midgard as well as retrieve the Aether!"
Ace was stunned and asked "He's not defeated?" Thor waved his hammer saying "Nonononono, you're mistaken! Malekith has been defeated thoroughly! I swear it!" Ace's lips twitched, Thor must've thought he was mentally disabled…
Thor cleared his throat and ran off.
Ace opened his mouth and Frigga dragged him off, saying "Our lesson now, little one." dragging Ace behind her like a sack of potatoes.
