章 225: Chapter 225: Suscila Arrives
While sitting in the carriage, I kept my eyes closed while rhythmically tapping my arm as I waited for certain someone to welcome me, yet even after waiting for a full five minutes, he never arrived, thoroughly angering me.
"Tch, bastard! When have I, Suscila Alarin, ever been forced to wait!? Such disrespect." Said Suscila, a bluish Atlantean with small fins for ears, gills on her neck, and webbed hands, though other than that, she looked very similar to a Human or Elf.
"Please calm yourself, Mistress Suscila; you must remember the person you're dealing with is Crown Prince Elif of the Elven Immortal Empire, who is infamous for his arrogance among the younger generation." Said a young man respectfully, donned in silver and black armor while holding a halberd in his hand.
"Hmph, still, he's dealing with the descendant of the Immortal Ocean Clan; arrogance should have a limit." Stated Suscila with a frown as she huffed in annoyance and looked out the window, eyeing the Elven Palace.
"I understand, Mistress Suscila, but don't forget, we technically aren't visiting with the title of the Immortal Ocean Clan, so even if he is disrespecting you, he isn't disrespecting the Immortal Ocean Clan." Said the young man respectfully as he gave a slight bow, though he got a glare from Suscila.
"So what you're essentially saying is I'm not important enough in Elif's eyes? Is that what you're saying, Oscar?" Questioned Suscila with a glare and a scowl, positioning Oscar between a rock and a hard place.
"Y-Yes, Mistress Suscila, t-thats' what it looks like to me; otherwise, he would've personally welcomed you. Or, at the very least, Princess Elaine would've taken his place." Replied Oscar slowly and nervously, not wishing to somehow garner Suscila's ire; luckily for him, someone approached them just before she could respond.
Before I could reprimand Oscar, out of the corner of my eye, I saw someone approaching me; I at first thought it was that arrogant Elif or Elaine, though when I laid eyes on the person, I was furious.
'A guard? They dared to send a mere guard to welcome ME!?' Thought Suscila furiously as she glared at Mandy, who was approaching their carriage.
"I deeply apologize you were required to wait so long, young mistress Suscila; when I got the order to welcome you, I was in the midst of my training, and I couldn't show disrespect by appearing before you as such. Again, I apologize for the wait." Said Mandy respectfully as she placed her hand on her stomach and bowed slightly, soothing Suscila's anger somewhat.
"Hmph, it's about time; making me wait five minutes is excessive. Anyways, where is Elif? I figured he would be the one to welcome me." Remarked Suscila calmly, though the anger in her voice was ever apparent, causing Mandy to sigh internally since she really wasn't the one to blame; she had, in fact, just received the order not even twenty seconds ago.
"Again, I do apologize. His Highness had just finished his sparring session with his teacher and is currently recuperating by taking a bath; if it weren't for that, I'm confident he would welcome you, young mistress Suscila." Replied Mandy with another bow, though when she finished speaking, an awkward silence hung in the air between the two.
'He couldn't welcome me 'cause he was bathing?' Thought Suscila in disbelief as she tightly clenched her fists in anger.
Furious wasn't enough to describe how utterly disrespected I felt; never before had I experienced such disrespect! I'm Suscila Alarin, the descendant of the Immortal Ocean Clan, niece of the Patriarch, and second strongest right after elder sister, yet here I was, being treated like a mere commoner!
"Fuu, calm yourself, Suscila; lashing out in anger will do no good; it will only form bad blood between our two hegemonies, which is unneeded. Besides, Sister had asked me to gauge Elif's strength, not to make them potential enemies." Muttered Suscila as she exhaled a deep breath and took a second to calm her furious heart before responding, sounding much calmer than before.
"I see, well then; I'll make sure to introduce myself when he's finished bathing." Replied Suscila softly, causing Mandy to nod her head while inwardly sighing in relief, feeling as if she had just dodged a bullet.
With the royal guard here, there was no point in waiting anymore, so I promptly stood up and exited the carriage, followed by Oscar and my personal attendant, Kar, who was personally assigned to me by Patriarch Alarin shortly after I was born.
"The servants shall store your carriage, and I'll have the stable master personally tend to your mounts; now, if you could please follow me, young mistress Suscila, I shall show you to your rooms." Stated Mandy with a professional smile as she gave a slight bow before turning around and leading the three to the palace, which they followed.
Following behind the royal guard, we entered the palace, and although I already wasn't pleased with the Elven Empire, I must admit, the palace was gorgeous; it had a different charm to it than the Ocean's manor.
"Hmm, the palace is quite beautiful." Muttered Suscila with a slight frown as she observed the various decorations strewn about the numerous hallways.
"I'm sure their Majesties would be pleased to hear such compliments." Said Mandy with a slight smile, though her words caused Suscila to widen her eyes slightly.
'Ahh, how could I forget? I've been so fixated on Elif that I didn't even bother meeting with the Emperor and Empress!' Thought Suscila with a frown as she internally berated herself before clearing her throat, catching Mandy's attention.
"Speaking of their Majesties, could I meet them if they aren't busy? It's only right for a guest to show proper gratitude, after all." Asked Suscila with a slight smile, causing Mandy to smile wryly.
"Unfortunately, that won't be possible, young mistress Suscila; you see, their Majesties have been absent for the past month; the ones in charge are currently Prince Elif and Princes Elaine." Said Mandy as she turned and glanced at Suscila, whose facial expression froze at her words.
"Tch, of course, they're absent. If you don't mind me asking, do you know why they're absent; is Elif's birthday not tomorrow? Do they intend to miss their firstborn coming-of-age birthday?" Questioned Suscila quietly before she skeptically eyed Mandy, putting her in an awkward position.
"His Highness had told me it's to acquire his coming-of-age birthday present; I don't know anything else, young mistress Suscila, as I found it unnecessary for me to pry further. However, if you wish to know more, I would suggest asking Her Highness Princess Elaine; she is the only one who would possibly know more on the subject, though if you intend to speak with her, just a piece of advice, refrain from mentioning his Highness if possible." Replied Mandy quietly as she looked at Suscila, who nodded in response, though she was slightly confused about Mandy's advice.
"I appreciate the info-" Said Suscila, though before she could finish speaking, she suddenly stopped dead in her tracks and eyed a certain Asura, who was currently cursing himself.
"Fuck me." Muttered Mada quietly, though when he looked at Suscila, he displayed a lovely smile as if he was delighted to see her.
"Mada, why are you just standing there? Come and hug your fiancé." Stated Suscila with a happy smile, her previous arrogance from before nowhere to be seen as she skipped toward Mada like a young maiden in love.
"S-Sorry dear, I was just so shocked to see you here; I thought someone was playing tricks on me." Said Mada softly as he approached Suscila and enveloped her in a tight hug, though internally, he was crying.
"S-So what are you doing here, my love? I didn't expect to see you here." Asked Mada as he set Suscila down and released her from the hug, only for her to leap and gently land on his shoulder, causing his face to twitch, though he didn't say anything.
"Obviously, it was to see my big and strong fiancé; when I learned you were going to be here, I just had to come. Besides, while we may have just seen each other a little over a month ago, I know you missed me; whenever I call you, you pick up immediately." Stated Suscila with a smile as she hugged Mada's head while he lightly patted her back.
'Yeah, that's because if I don't answer, you'll constantly call me until I answer back; don't you know how terrible that is?' Thought Mada while he smiled when Suscila planted a kiss on his cheek.
"Heh, my f-fiancé knows me best." Replied Mada with a forced smile, wishing to cry.
"Young Mistress, don't forget your Father had strictly said no intimate actions until marriage." Said Kar as he looked at Suscila softly before glaring at Mada, causing him to sweat from nervousness.
"Hmph, well, I don't care; he's my fiancé, not my Father's. I'll kiss him as I wish." Remarked Suscila with a frown as she eyed Kar before planting several kisses on Mada's cheek while Kar's glare intensified.
"W-We should listen to your Father, Dear; I-I wouldn't want my future Father-in-law to dislike me because of just a few kisses. Besides, when we get married, we'll be able to do a lot more than just kissing." Said Mada with a nervous gulp as he gently picked Suscila up before setting her on the ground, causing her to fold her arms and huff in annoyance.
"Hmph, fine, you naughty boy." Said Suscila with a frown before glancing at Mada with a slight smirk, causing him to chuckle, hiding the pain.
