'How did I get myself in this situation?' Hade kept wondering to himself as he faced off against a pissed-off Varis.

To say Verner had sprung this one on him was accurate as Hade had no recollection of ever agreeing to this setup.

You would think that a responsible teacher would at least alert his student if he was going to throw him under the rug but no, Verner was already making himself comfortable on a stool twenty meters away, giving them space for his impromptu-planned friendly duel.

Turning his attention back to Varis, Hade could almost feel the palpable hostile intent the second year was directing at him.

'What the hell did I ever do to him?' He could not help but wonder.

"Now remember," Verner's voice resounded throughout the dojo.

"This is a friendly spar so try to go easy on each other. Let's not forget that the whole purpose of this duel is to learn from one another and together surpass our limits!"
