章 6: A New Hideout? Thanks Builderman!

"POLNAREFF!" Joel shouted. He was clearly going to die if someone didn't help him.

"Come on! You're not dying here, not now, not after everything we've gone through!" Brianna said through sobs.

"W-We've spent like five minutes together. What have we gone through together?" Polnareff said.

"Save your breath. Joel, can you make something to hold Polnareff up? We can carry him back to the hotel, even if that puts us in danger." Aros said, also panicking because of Brianna's mood.

"Builderman, can you make one?" Builderman nodded. "Let's get to work." Every second Joel worked was another second Polnareff would be closer to death. Within a few minutes, he made something Polnareff could be carried in, like what ER workers use.

Polnareff was picked up and was slowly carried back to the hotel, where police surrounded the building. "Damnit! I forgot about our room being destroyed. If we show up in there, we'll be arrested. Let's go over there!" Brianna pointed to a nearby alley.

"I have an idea! Jojo, use your stand to heat Polnareff up, quickly!" Brianna said

"He can't, master Brianna, for two reasons. One, he still is drained of energy from his attack earlier, isn't that right?" Aros said

"Y-yeah. I haven't been able to even catch my breath properly. How did you know?"

Aros shrugged. "Your breathing. Also, if you heat him up quickly, he can die from damage to his body from the hypothermia. One thing about hypothermia is that if you heat up to quickly, you can be hurt even more." Aros said.

"I'm willing to strain myself and maybe even pass out if I can save Polnareff. I named him Heatwave because I think he can emit heat from his body, right?" Heatwave, answering, moved forward a little bit and began warming the area.

"No hotter, or else Polnareff could be hurt even more and you might pass out." Aros said.

"O-okay… I don't feel so good. W-what's going on?" Jojo said.

"You're straining yourself too much. I told you it was a bad idea!" Aros put her fingers to her head like she had a bad headache.

"I-I can't focus on anything. My eyes can't focus. I gotta stop." Heatwave disappeared as Jojo fell backwards, passing out.

"Okay, Builderman, for now you should build us a little fort, and a wood wall at the entrance of the alley so we can rest." Builderman pulled out everything they needed, and within twenty minutes they had a makeshift hut and some form of protection from people with that wooden wall.

"I'll try to create some darkness to protect us, but if I do I won't be any help in a fight." Matthew said.

"That's fine. I can hopefully keep you guys protected myself." Jotaro responded.

"I'll make some blankets and floors, but for now I think Brianna should go pick up some food for us. Jotaro, give her some of your cash you converted so she can get some food for us."

"Why me? What happens if I run into an enemy?" Brianna was staring at Joel, very confused.

"There's a 24/7 grocery store not to far from here. Plus, you're the least suspicious and in the best shape." Joel waved around him, showing everyone either tired or protecting the new base.

"F-Fine. I'll go, but I swear you owe me big time later." Brianna took some money from Jotaro and climbed over the wood wall (there was a very crude ladder for getting out and small wedges to climb in on the other side ), then jumped down.

------------BRIANNA'S JOURNEY WILL BE CONTINUED IN LATER PART--------

"Alright let's make this little hut hospitable. Jotaro, I'll need your help moving the two bozos over there so that I can make this hut a home base! Also Matt you'll need to move too."

Joel started on the new base. After twenty minutes he had made a little sleeping area with some fabric and pillows (yes he stole them from the hotel and put them in his stand's pockets), along with a storage area to hold anything they didn't need to carry around. Both were still pretty rough, but he decided to work on it later.

"This is hard work! Jotaro, do you have anymore drinks?" Joel asked, practically sweating buckets even though he was in below zero weather.

"I'm fresh out. Brianna should be coming back soon with more. For now though, you should focus on making a water purifier and some heaters, along with some blankets.

"I can try, but there's no guarantee I won't kill us all with fire for the heaters."

Another twenty minutes later, Joel had made some pillows and an area to melt snow. He had started purifying snow already when he realized Brianna still wasn't back.

"Hey Jotaro, I think I'm gonna go looking for Brianna. You hold down the fort."

"Alright, I'll keep watch. I'll need to explain what's happened to our friends here. After all, they need to know who made this fort."

Just like that, Joel had left the fort, looking for the convenience store and for his sister.

By this time it had started to blizzard, so Joel pulled out some goggles and put them on. He still couldn't see very well, but at least he didn't have to worry about his eyes freezing or getting filled with snow.

He somehow made it to the store, but not before practically turning himself into a popsicle. The problem was, the doors were sealed shut. Not by ice, but someone had sealed it with, wait, are those purple shards in those wooden planks.

"She's somewhere in there, in trouble isn't she? Groan I shouldn't have told her to go by herself." Joel thought.

He tried going around back, but the doors were boarded shut there too. Joel pulled out a wrench and unscrewed the door, but even with both him and Builderman pulling, the door wouldn't budge.

"Hmm… Maybe the roof?" Joel looked around and found an air vent he was able to unscrew and use as a hand hold as he climbed up. He made it to the roof and noticed there was a dark silhouette on the roof. He thought it was a person, but when he got tried stepping towards it, it jumped off the roof and disappeared.

There was a roof entrance for some reason, and this time it was unlocked. He jumped in just to see everything was a wreck. There was purple poison oozing from different holes in the wall and Brianna was standing in the corner, her eyes a weird gray shade. She moved her head slowly and then started walking to Joel.

Joel felt a shiver go up his spine. "B-Brianna? Stop, don't come any closer. First, I want to know, what's my name?"

Brianna answered with, " Well that's easy, you're Joel."

Something still didn't sit right. He walked to Brianna and suddenly his mind felt fuzzy. He backed up and the feeling disappeard. He noticed the same silhouette from earlier through a window, and realized what could've happened.
