章 169: Chapter 169 - We Hired Her
"Do you really have to go? I mean what do you even plan to do while you are there?"
Dean was leaving again for Spain. He insisted on telling his paternal grandparents in person. I would have been ok with that reason had it not been for the fact that he called his maternal grandparent. And she was closer and on much better terms with Dean compared to the others.
"Trust me they won't hurt me. The reason I am going is because of the incentive I am offering. It is something I can only offer in person and I will be back in three days time. I will be here for sure before the announcement of our relationship."
What in the world did he need to go to Spain for that would only take three days and only he can give in person? It was clear if Dean was not sharing what he knew then there was nothing I could do to convince him otherwise.
Well I am sure there was but I did not need to go that far to persuade him.
"Ok well be safe and you better be here in three days time." He laughed hard and the phone shook from his laughter. "Yes ma'am. On a serious note please be safe. "
Though he was laughing earlier and he had a twinkle in his eye from the mirth he was experiencing when he transitioned to the serious matter his mood also shifted. "I will. See you later then, you too be safe. Love you." He ended the video call from there and to distract myself from worrying I went back to work on the collection I was working on with my friend.
The assembly process of the stones was painstakingly slow compared to other items I have made. And since getting back from the trip, Fleur sent in photos of her progress as well as some occasional questions regarding my own work.
Despite having much more experience than I did we both were around the same progress levels in terms of completeness. The necklace I was making was a lot easier in comparison to the earrings she was assembling so it made sense for the progress to move around the same pace.
With the upcoming holiday season, I wanted to have it done beforehand so we can rest and be ready to release in the New Year. Also considering that now the cat was out of the bag, I expected the holiday season to also be much more livelier than before.
The next day I went to work as normal but stopped by Noemi's for lunch as she and Rachel wanted to share something with me. Her home was now free from her in-laws as they returned to Taiwan after the long stay. So with no other prying ears it was nice to speak freely.
She served us some beef noodle soup as well as some chopped up scallion pancake. The food was rich and flavorful so for a short while we discussed nothing and the sound of us slurping our noodles and crunching into the pancake filled the dining room.
"How have you girls been? I know its been a hectic few days since the wedding. Sorry for going MIA on you guys."
"We totally understand I mean we have been seeing the discourse going on right now I bet your plate has been full." Noemi in a rare fashion did not make any jokes and spoke with seriousness.
"About that..." Before I could get the words out my friends each simply grabbed my hands. The look in their eyes told me what I felt when I walked in here. They knew.
"You don't have to say it. We know. And we support it, if you are happy then that is all we need to know." Rachel squeezed my hand and in that moment it felt great that they were my friends.
Growing up many people would try to curry favor or force themselves to be my friend all for the sake of getting special favors or treatments. However due to my personality type very few stuck around. When I met Noemi her brashness and honest nature showed me that she really wanted to be my friend but not for benefits. And when she introduced me to Rachel we became a trio that became inseparable.
Even now I felt that same kindness. I felt the tears threatening to fall but I held them back. "However we have been doing well. I am not sure if you saw but Rachel and I ended up going to Felix's wedding."
I won't lie the initial gratefulness I was feeling for my friends left my body the minute she finished that sentence. That gut reaction of betrayal hit me but I swallowed those emotions down. I was an adult and sometimes that meant not always getting my way when it came to things that happen around me.
"I see. How was it?" Because my hands were wrapped in the hands of my friends I could not default to my usual anxiety coping method. So I went to the next best thing which was biting my lip.
"The funniest thing we ever saw. So have you seen what has been said regarding what happened?" Noemi at this point got up and ran to grab something. Before I could question what she ran back with an tablet in her hands.
"Yeah I got the gist of what happened." She set down the tablet and played the video saved on there. It was pretty much what I saw in the few articles circling around. However I noticed the ring in the frame of the video which was the same ring on Rachels hand.
"Wait that was your video?" I was surprised that they would even submit the video to the press.
"Yes and what we will tell you next stays between us ok." Both girls held out their pinky fingers for the promise. I linked pinkies and mentally prepared for what they felt had to be top secret.
"Ok so Noemi and I were really not going to attend since we both have complicated relationships with Sol and Felix but we felt he had it a bit too easy. So you see that woman who made the scene, we hired her to do that."
"Wait... you guys staged that!?!"
