"Arissa please," he finally pleaded when she took the third step away from him.

Arissa did not say anything but just stood still with her red eyes looking at him. The fact someone like him was capable of pleading came as a surprise to her but still, the hurt of his words lingered around her chest and heart.

Seeing she was now standing still, Nicklaus took a step forward but to his irritation, she took two steps back, shaking her head in denial, telling him not to come closer.

Arissa tilted her head to the door and back to him, "I have to go,".

Nicklaus's jaw clenched and he passed his eyes over to the door. He looked back at her. Not knowing what to say to her, he just looked over to his balcony, "The card is in there. In between the books,"

Turning away from her, he walked away from her. Leaving the room would be better for both of them since the air was unhealthy and hot with their negative emotions.
