The plan was a simple reconnaissance mission with Lise acting as my liaison while Mathilde showed her the plans for the whole capital city. The Primzahl had assured me that the Royal Library was the least guarded of all the Imperial buildings, and that her presence would ensure that nobody would even question why she was trying to get access to the plans for the city.

"Lise knows what she's doing," I ground my teeth as I reassured myself. "Mathilde's also with her, so nothing's going to happen that would be too dangerous."

I squirmed in my seat as I forced myself to accept the cold hard facts of the matter. Logic was always correct. On the rare occasion that it wasn't, then that was only because of a highly improbable variable that wasn't accounted for...
