The madness that started in Camp Chiron could only be explained with one word: Herasterus' teachings.
Herasterus had taught his family a lot of things, things ranging from insane military training methods and boot camp instructor speeches to famous cartoon/anime songs.
Of course, his family didn't know that it originated from the 21st century; they just assumed he was well-read and the customs were from foreign countries far away.
They couldn't have been more wrong.
Herasterus taught them the mechanics of pack behavior, one seen in social animals with a hierarchy, such as wolves. Alpha, beta, the cycle of reward and punishment, and pack mentality.
Herasterus sang children's songs to Atlanta and Scathach on the rare occasions they were unable to sleep, plagued by past horrors and scarred by traumatic nightmares.
Herasterus sometimes held speeches he'd heard from famous politicians and rulers from various ages, making fun of their true motives and dissecting their narrative skills, and explaining how mere words could sometimes control people far more effectively than physical threats.
He taught them a lot of new things, and for them, the innovative knowledge was more than enough to leave a huge impact on their minds. Indoctrinated by his antics, the poor girls involuntarily became what 21st-century people might call: natural trolls.
Tragically, the girls couldn't tell his jokes apart from his more serious topics. In Herasterus' defense: "It was a friggin' meme."
Who could have guessed the first meme hazard in human history started in ancient Greece?
...Maybe ALAYA was right about deleting his existence after all.
If only he knew that this would be the beginning of the Cult of Herasterus...he might have made ALAYA's job a lot easier.

It all started when Achilles challenged Atalanta to a race.
Achilles, being a demigod gifted with invulnerability and godspeed that rivaled Hermes himself, believed that there was no other person faster than him.
Of course, he knew that he was still a child and that there are a few adult heroes that have greater agility, but he firmly believed that he was the fastest in the same age group, including people that were a few years older than him.
That lead him to falsely conclude that he could teach Atlanta a lesson, and show the new arrivals that he is the BOSS.
An arrogance that he shall pay for most dearly.
Only the harshest punishments await the loser of Atlanta's footrace.
A 100km nonstop marathon with an arrow-shooting hunter after his tender ass.
...Achilles never knew racing could be so torturous.

All three of them had an acute sense of self-preservation.
That was why when Scathach announced that all they needed to do was escape, they were overjoyed...but not for long.
How can one girl catch us all? They thought.
What is the worst she can do to us? They thought.
On the first day, they all ended up in her clutches- bruised, battered, and with their pride and dignity blown into smithereens.
She was a witch in the truest sense.
They couldn't outrun her. They couldn't overpower her. Nothing they did mattered. Their resistance was laughable in front of the sheer martial might she displayed.
One by one, they were hunted. One by one, they were taken.
Into the shadows of the forest. Into the dark. Into their doom.
Scathach pointed her spears at them, forcing them to overcome the impossible.
Climb a towering tree covered with freaking olive oil.
With weights as heavy as their own weight.
And a damn anal penetration rod beneath their asses.
It was then that they unanimously agreed, she was an accursed witch.
Survival of the fittest.
That day, two of them decided to make a sacrifice.
That day, one of their brethren was left behind as bait.
And that day, they created a monster of their own making.
"HAHAHA! I SHALL NOT LET GO OF YOUR DAMN HEELS! ABDERUS! THESEUS! TODAY, YOU SHALL SUFFER AS I HAVE! TODAY, WE SHALL BECOME A TRUE FAMILY! IN SUFFERING AND PAIN! TOGETHAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

...They may or may not have committed genocide on Asclepius' brain cells.

Jason...was cocky. Even he had to admit it.
He had no choice but to admit it, when a literal ton of steel rock was crushing his back. Herasterus thought it was a mere 10 kg rock...wrong!
It was a freaking weight enchanted by some unholy magic.
When they first started his training, Jason wasn't very obedient. He even made fun of his new mentor, Heracles.
In return, Heracles made sure what was actually funny. Her iron grip on his delicate skull.
Try slacking off? Iron grip!
Try talking back? Iron grip!
Try running away? Iron grip!
Too tired? Iron grip!
On the verge of a mental breakdown? IRON GRIP!
And so it is...
"HEYYEYAAEYAAAEYAEYAA! MOAR MUSCLE! HEYYEYAAEYAAAEYAEYAA!"
Jason was reborn.
Like an immortal phoenix soaring up from the undying flames.
He was no longer the weak-willed boy who searched for excuses. He was no longer the coward who hid behind others in times of conflict.
He was molded into a true leader. A true commander that was fit to lead from the frontlines.
He was JASON!
"Brother Herasterus. I humbly greet thee excellence."
"Heracles...? What did you do to him and why do I sense guilt from you? ...What do you mean you made a 'trigger'!? YOU MADE YOUR KNUCKLE CRACKING INTO A PAVLOVIAN TRIGGER FOR HIS SECOND PERSONALITY!?"
