章 91: Chapter 91: The Cook's Daughter

Seeing the buss of activity going on, Tim smiled. Indeed his Boss was loved by everyone. He quickly join the villagers in tidying up the compound.

Simon made his way to the bathroom. If there is anything he needed so badly, it was a cold shower and maybe sleep if he could be lucky enough. He stepped into the bathtube and the cold surface of  marble tub grazed on his skin. This gave him a cold feeling giving him tiny goosebumps. He switched on the tap, relaxed this head on the head rest and shut his eyes tightly enjoying the cold touch of water from the tap.

He thought about Paige, wondered if she was back and what she might be up to. It's been three days away from her and it already feels like a whole year. He imagined how much trouble she must have given Franklin Tedson by now. He recalled how sharp and deadly her tongue was and how cute she was when she pretends to be angry. He missed her terribly. Her inquisitiveness and incessant questions. Her touches when she touches him, her face, the feel of her breath on his bare skin. He formed an oval curve with his palms and scooped some water from the bath tub splashing it on his face. This suddenly reminded him of his last visit at Lakeview with Paige. Their little memorable time in the lake. Feeling chilly as a result of the cold water in the tub, he quickly rushed his bath. With a towel tied round his waist, he made his way to the bedroom.

He opened his wardrobe and noticed that his clothes have been carefully arranged. That of course will be courtesy of Bruce. He smiled realizing how much he was loved by Bruce. He jogged through memory lane to the first day they met on his first visit to Creek Island after running off to England for years. He met Bruce just outside their Mansion with his son. Both were looking worn out, hungry and tired. Bruce had asked him if he could do some menial jobs for them and in return they can feed his son. This had left Simon sad. So he took them in and interrogated him almost all day trying to know where he came from and what he was doing at Creek Island. He laughed uncontrollably when he remembered how scared Emily and his sisters were at the sight of Bruce and his son.

The following day after giving them some clothes, a hair cut and a footwear, he took them to a family friend who owned a Logistics company and Bruce was offered a job as a dispatch rider and a little space big enough to accommodate him and his little son. Few months after their encounter, Simon offered Jack, Bruce's son a scholarship to study in one of the biggest schools in Yardstin. He did this after several private investigation was carried out by him. His discovery made him decide to venture into such a philanthropist work. He smiled recalling how far he has come with helping people. If only he could help everyone he thought with a sad smile.

Changing into a brown khaki short and a wine long sleeved shirt, he picked up his phone to reply the numerous messages from his sister Anna. A knock came on the mini sitting room door and he strolled into the room which was demarcated from the bedroom with a not so big but well trimmed and aesthetically designed white wooden wall. Bruce stepped in after being permitted to by Simon. "Is there a problem?" He asked.

"No Boss, would you prefer eating in? Food is ready and I want to confirm if the dinning hall will be best suited."

"I'll eat in." Simon replied.

"Okay Boss." Bruce replied warmly. I'll let them know.

"Did you pack my wristwatch?" Simon suddenly asked causing him to halt in his steps. He turned back staring at his Boss, not too sure about the particular wristwatch he was talking about.

"The one linked to Paige's bracelet." He continued. "I need to know where she is."

Bruce scratched his head remembering that he dropped the wristwatch on his boss's bedside table and forgot to pack it up.

"No Boss." He replied.

"You shouldn't forget vital stuff like that Bruce. Call Nicon, let me know what time she arrived the Mansion. And get some rest as well. Tomorrow, we'll work on getting the satellite working so we can be get stronger signals for the internet." He told Bruce.

"Very well Boss." He replied. "Are we staying that long here?" Bruce asked as he thought earlier they only came to see the condition of the ranch and get going in no time. Judging from the fact that they came with very few belongings and June's wedding is just over the weekend.

"Yes." Simon nodded. "We might stay till the wedding. We might even get to come back after the wedding." He added. "So, you better get comfortable and gather everything you need for your comfort."

"Okay." Bruce said smiling.

"Okay?" Simon asked with a smile.

"Okay Boss." Bruce replied laughing uncontrollably.

"Go get my food Bruce, I'm farmished." Simon added laughing softly. While Bruce left to relay the message to the Butler with a heart warming smile. He was happy to see this Boss smiling. He still didn't understand Simon's reason for coming to Galvile. He thought he missed Paige madly and should be at the mansion since she came back today. But here he was, running away from the one thing that make him happy. He wondered if this was because of any peculiar reason.

Back in the room, Simon turned on the air conditioner and faced the mini mirror in front of him combing his hair gently as he engaged himself in deep thoughts about life and the numerous projects he has on ground to carry out. It was beginning to seem like he needed to tone down on the expansion of his empire. He needs to be able to keep up with all his businesses. Though he's working with very competent people who makes it easy for him to keep up, people who know that the only reward they'd get if they ever attempt stealing from him and he finds out is a slow painful death. A gentle knock came on the door bringing him back from his thoughts. "Come in." He said with a raised voice.

The cook's daughter stepped in with a tray of hot soy sauce and shredded yam. "Good evening sir, I brought your food." She announced.

Simon saw her through the mini mirror and was stunned at how young she was. over the years, he made it a rule not to employ a minor or a teenager in any of his establishments and he sure passed these rules round. Dropping the comb on the mini table in front of him and filled with curiosity, he turned towards her. "And you are?" He asked.

"My name is Faith sir, I am the cook's daughter." She introduced herself with a bow.

Simon took the tray from her and placed it on the mini dining table built for two at the extreme part of the room. "What happened to the cook?" He asked dropping the food on the table.

"She's down with a flu sir." Faith replied.

"And you are working for her? You don't go to school on a Monday?" He asked.

"I don't go to school." She replied in a hushed tone.

"Why not?"

"My father," she started slowly. "He doesn't believe that a woman need to be educated. He thinks an educated woman will end up being unable to take care of her home and her husband as well and he believe that most men prefer women without much formal education as they believe these women make better wives." Faith explained.

"Sit down." Simon gestured to an empty seat placed on the wall. "You speak so well, how old are you?" He asked.

"I'm twenty years old sir." Faith replied sitting down. "I'll be twenty one in a couple of weeks and I attended junior high school I got one of the awards as the best student of the year while in school." She boasted happily.

"If you were that brilliant, why did you stop school then?" He asked.

"I told you sir, my father."

Simon sat down on a bamboo chair opposite her. "What do you think about your father's opinion then? Do you agree with him?"

"I don't. I don't believe education have anything to do with being a bad wife or not. Both are two different things. Being educated does not stop a woman from taking care of her home and her husband." She stated.

"That is true. Taking care of the home isn't a woman's job only. It is the job of the husband as well as the wife. And the husband is not meant to be a liability that needs to be taken care of. A man and his wife ought to take care of each other. They are in the relationship together.
