章 9: Chapter 9_ Malinger
The doorbell keeps ringing.
"One minute please." I shouted from my room. I run to get the door. To my amazement, it was Skylar standing before the door. I closed the door at once leaving him standing outside. "What's he doing here? He can't know that I'm doing fine already. Thank goodness I already stitches some part of my wounded body. I pretended sick and weak as I opened the door again.
"Keisha, how are you doing?"
"I'm good. What are you doing here?"
"To check on you, I was worried sick when I heard you left the clinic before treatment. I wanted to call you but I realize I don't have your number. Why did you leave the clinic?"
I ignore him and walked to sit on the sofa.
"Are you good?"
"I'm good Skylar, you can leave now."
"You don't look it. You look extremely weak to me right now"
"I said I'm good, please leave now."
"What wrong, did i do something wrong? Fine, but before I leave can I at least get your number so I can reach on you later."
I give him my number without wasting time and he left. "Jeez, that was so close." Just a few minute later, the doorbell rings again. "What does he want this time?" I open the door.
"What is it…?"
"Hi." Liam said standing at the door with a flower on his hand smiling.
"Liam." I was surprise, I wasn't expecting him at all, and beside how did he know my address. I stood there looking at him not knowing what to say.
"Can I come in?"
"Sure, come in."
"You thought it was him?" He asked as he walked in.
"Pardon, how did you mean?"
"Skylar, I saw him leaving. What is up with you two?"
"What do you know?"
"I….."
"Why are you here Liam? I interrupt."
"I know about your incident with the girls. I heard you left the clinic without being treated. So I decided to come see how you are doing."
"Well, I left because..."
"Don't bother. I guess you left for personal reasons. I brought you flower."
"I don't like flower."
"What? That's odd."
"What's odd?"
"It's actually the first time am seeing a girl that doesn't like flowers. It is very strange to me considering it my first time."
"I collected the flower from him feeling mortified. So how did you find my house?" I asked trying to change the bored atmosphere.
"That is simple. I have your number remember and I have my phone." He said and find comfort on the couch. "So how are you feeling?"
"I'm fine now."
"Don't lie to me Keisha, you can't be fine with all this badge on your body. You know, I have been here before."
"What do you mean?"
He looks at me and gives a wry smile. "When I first got into this school, I saw Eve for the very first time and like her. I guess that was a mistaken love at first sight. I crush on her for a month and one day I decided to tell her how I feel about her. I summon courage and told her one day. She didn't say much, she told me she will give me a reply later and at lunch time, she called me. She asked me to follow her and that was the stupidest mistake I made. She took me to a place and I was humiliated by her and her friends. Yours is even better, mine was recorded and posted social."
"I'm so sorry Liam"
"You don't have to be Keisha, it already in the past."
"You care for anything?"
"No. I have to leave now. I have a blind date with someone."
"Really, I see. Go and get her."
"Sure I will."
He stands up, wave at me and left.
Skylar drove back home in his car. Keisha actions toward him earlier left him in thoughts. He wondered why she acted that way towards him even when he was the one who saved her from Alice and her accompanist.
"Was the caused of her being assaulted by them related to him?" He thought.
Thank goodness Liam came to him on time else something would have happened.
He got home, from the car door, he could see his dad entering the car with young ladies in their twenties. He knew definitely who the girls were to his Dad. He had once thought they were his business partners as his Dad has lied but definitely, he knew now they are not but his Dad various girlfriend's. He had fought with his Dad various times and give up when his Dad refuse to change for good.
He stepped down from his car and frown, glaring at his dad car as he walked inside.
