2.13% Wretch: Exception To The Rule / Chapter 4: Awaken

章 4: Awaken

Raising his sluggish body, not without difficulty, the wretch felt incredibly tired until it realised where it was.

At the site of the crime that is!

Jumping up as if he had been shocked with electricity, the monster crawled and ran around as swiftly as he could, just because he felt like it was an emergengy didn't mean he wouldn't pick up his loot before leaving.

And by loot, it meant everything that could be carried, he had earned it through minimal effort but effort nonetheless!

'All mine!' as if someone had just spoken to him, he looked around, that sounded awfully close...

'Mmmh-' he quickly caught the uninvited speaked but all he had in his hands was his own head, which was just turned quite a fair but more than it should have, it had turned left except that he was seeing the world upside down right now.

He tried putting it back in place and he didn't even need his hands to do that! That was weird as heck but felt very nice at the same time.

He felt like testing it further but he suddenly remembered he was in a hurry, without even adressing the fact that the unknown speaker was; perhaps, inside of his skull, the wretch went away, walking in the most suspicious way anything could have witnessed.

He had no flying clue where he was going but he had to go somewhere and that somewhere was everywhere, he didn't even have to think about it to go there!

Without realising, he went in the same direction the horde he had fled from had went, perhaps he was subconsciously wondering what had happened of them or he most likely chose that direction through pure coincidence.

Carrying his various findings and the peculiar items he reaped from the ones he had digested already in his arms, the little wretch couldn't help but notice that he had graduated from that title and was now a slightly-less-little wretch, still the difference was somewhat noticeable to him.

Curious at the changes that had occured to him during his sleep, he turned his head to look at his back, turning it one hundred and eighty degrees without meaning to and crashing into a tree.

Feeling a bit disoriented, the wretch called upon the only existence he could interrogate about all of this.

'Appear wretched flat one!' once again the speaker made his presence known and what a coincidence, he was apparently having the same thought as the wretch for that sounded exactly what he intended to convey!

'Wait...'

'...'

'...'

'Galagolbinva' he thought with utter seriousness.

'Mmh' he scratched his chin and suddenly noticed that his claws were gone, not in the sense that they were still broken but that there weren't any claws at all!

'Wretched damnation!' he exclaimed tactfully in his own mind, his wide vocabulary surprising even himself as he wasn't even certain he understood what he was saying.

Thinking that his claws should be here, he saw the needle-like weapons pop out off the end of his fingers, in and out, in and out, in and out, in and out, in and out, in and out.

'What was I doing?' wondered the monster as he raised his head to look at his status window, the only thing he had pretty much an innate understanding of when he had come to be.

The thing was still was boring as ever, it looked like the thing was meant to be filled up but nothing was there.

And the same word kept appearing everywhere, sometime in variations.

Mithridate this, mithridation that, that was gibberish, the wretch tried to focus on those things but what he got wasn't very satisfactory, it called about mixing and stuff but the wretch didn't understand what it entailed in the slighest.

All that he know is that the more time passed, the more bizarre stuff he seemed to know, like just how much his body was flexible now.

He grabbed his legs and twisted it, managing to have the bottom of his feet touching his chin without any problem while standing.

As he did so, he noticed a small insect on it and promptly ate it, the sweet voice of the system announced his kill to him, saying that more stuff was added to another of those mithridates.

The monster went on his way, being careful not twist his neck this time, although he couldn't help but check how many times he could rotate his head around before it would block and the answer to that question was, a lot of times.

Enough time that doing so at high speed would make him sick, he tried it multiple times and fell over in each of those instances.

Somehow, during his uneventful walk in the calm forest, he ended up chaning path due to the clear smell of something burning, he had eaten enough of his fellow monsters after their passing and he could clearly tell, this was some minotaur getting roasted!

He may have considered the horned ones to be his lackeys and he still did, they are all beneath him after all! But he wasn't too keen on approaching what slaughtered them, the smell didn't come from a single one and it wasn't the only smell in the air, it was a massacre, for certain.

So he casually shifted into a direction that wasn't near there and ended up in a most familar location, not that he had been there before but he could remember what a village looked like.

He had stumbled upon a breeding ground for those damned, bipedal, soft skinned, shell for wretches!

And it was gigantic! It didn't compare at all to the previous ones, they had been baby piss, dead baby piss even! It was exactly like a village but bloated with more of those constructions and unhabitants.

It would have been a long and joyful feast for the horde but there was no horde left, only him and after what he had seen what three of those things with sharp sticks could do to his army of meatshields, he wasn't willing to engage in a fight.

Who was he kidding? Not like he would have tried to fight even if there was one! That was the job of the peasants, using brawn wasn't fit for someone like him, for he had a brain, a big one.

Crouching behind some bushes, he observed the movements of these people, hearing them speaking in an alien language, watching how different they looked from one another, truly sickening! Superior lifeforms all look the same, clearly these people didn't stand at the top of anything, they must have been cattle for whatever resided behind the bigger structure in the distance.

The wretch didn't know what word to use to describe it but further away, separated from the village by a something that moved up and down, it had a stone wall or was it perhaps a large creature and the thing that moved up and down was one of its fingers or perhaps its tongue.

Or even... Perhaps it was mating season for this big thing?

Whatever it was, he would subject it to his law at a later date, the wretch needed to know more about the cattle before thinking about dealing with their master.

So he snuck around after it went dark and peeked into the various constructions, seeing many seens, some he could understand and some he couldn't at all.

The more of these places he peeped into, the more a wicked idea started forming inside of the monster's mind, once he was met with one that seemed particularly fit, he went into action, getting inside was easy, those idiots had holes in their dens and big ones at that!

'You don't know it yet, but this is MY territory now!' he declared to no one while grinning broadly, anyone that would have seen his face would have reconsidered their life choices, for it was a sight one couldn't easily forget.
