章 11: Gone Mad

Ilyana's heels created the loud steps on the floor as she rushed to leave far away from her mother. Sometimes she doubted Madam Zhou was her real mother seeing how easily she would push her into the mouth of danger as if she didn't care what will happen to her or her safety. Then again when she was terribly sick after a pneumonia her mother was still absent from her life, as to her mother Pandora was more important.

Ilyana sighed, she didn't want to continue wallowing in the fact her mother didn't truly love her. She didn't want to have a mommy issue and cry for her mother's indifference toward her. Rather, Ilyana had stopped caring, only feeling angry when seeing her mother smile as if she believed she would win over her. She wouldn't let her mother win, at least this time.

"Ilyana," someone's voice rushingly called for her but Ilyana who was deep in her thought didn't pay much attention to the loud noise.

Annoyed, Samuel raised her voice even more, "ILYANA!"

Ilyana frowned and turned her head, finding Samuel whose lips were pressed tightly together seemingly in anger. He still the habit of grinding his teeth when he couldn't handle his anger even though that would mean him breaking his teeth again. "You didn't have to be that desperate."

"Desperate?" Ilyana wasn't amused seeing Samuel showing this brash attitude to her. "I can't believe I am hearing that from you. Which part of what I did in that room seemed desperate to you, Cousin?"

Samuel rolled his eyes, a habit he did which always annoyed Ilyana. Samuel said, "Even though you know I am saying the truth you defended Blue Rose."

"Which truth?" She scoffed at his foolishness. "I am not defending Blue Rose but I am defending you from your own idiocy," Ilyana folded her hands under her bosom. "You do know what will happen if mother believed your words from earlier, didn't you? It won't end with a simple confirmation to the Blue Rose but a war! A gang war! Is that what your want?"

"A little war for the greater good is sometimes needed," coldly Samuel brushed off the fact that war could kill people. He was indeed the type of person who wouldn't pay attention to other people's misery, caring about his own happiness and profit. "If the Blue Rose is indeed in the wrong, then why we should hesitate on going against them?"

"This is why I called you idiot," murmured Ilyana. She pointed her hand and pressed her sharp oval fingernail to the direction of his shoulder. "You think war is a ticket to end every problem don't you? But that's not what will happen if Blue Rose go against Pandora, Samuel. I know Pandora will win in the war but now the foreigners in Shanghai who had lost their only protector would be in extreme unease."

"What does that have to do with our people? I don't protect the foreigners, I protect us, the people of Shanghai," claimed Samuel.

"Then listen to me," she narrowed down her black gaze, angered by how Samuel had cut her words again and again. "If the foreigners lose their protectors this will led to their anger and uneasiness. What will happen then?" Ilyana paused and gave her cousin a good three minute to think of the answer but he looked at her with his eyes blank. "The war won't stop. Now the foreigners will gather a new group to go against us, for the fear that one day we will oppress them. Then from that group born another new group, and even more group. This will cause death of our own men and tell me how does that sound like a grandiose plan."

"You can cut your bullshit. I know the real reason why you don't want to fight Blue Rose," Samuel went closer beside her to an uncomfortable distance. He whispered, trying to look cool when in truth Ilyana could only think of how disgusting it is to feel his presence so up close to her own. "It's your ex isn't it?"

Ilyana's deep black eyes immediately went red upon hearing what Samuel had brought up. She frowned at him, trying to remain calm. Samuel seemed to have take her kindness for granted. Indeed she didn't want to fight but it wasn't because she feared him, it was because she just didn't want to ruin her mood. Samuel didn't know how fortunate he is that he's still a part of Zhou Family because if he didn't and he had the audacity to bring her "ex" name into this conversation, she would have slaughter him cold blooded and ditch his body somewhere far from civilization.

"Shut your mouth while I'm still patient, Samuel," Ilyana's eyebrows raised as she stepped forward, "Just because you are incapable of competing against me due to your lack of skills, doesn't mean you should pin all the blames to Blue Rose and embarrass yourself further. Don't you remember what you did last time in GunZhang Harbor? Do you want to embarrass Pandora's name again all over Shanghai?"

A quick red flash appeared on Samuel's eyes as he grabbed her by her wrist and pushed Ilyana to the wall before she could react. His hand gripped to her wrist with the intention to break her bone. Ilyana winced but she didn't let her pain show on her face as she dislike the idea of men looking down at her, especially Samuel. "Don't ever mention that again!" Samuel cursed in Chinese, "This is why a woman like you should never take over a man's business. You will use your emotions like "love" and all this bullshits to protect the same man who had betrayed you like Dexter Huang!"

Ilyana was practicing her self peace by not heeding into the words that Samuel yelled at her but hearing Dexter's name that she had buried long ago in the back of her head immediately fan her anger.

Her eyes that were once peaceful was quickly filled with the heated frenzy or rage. Her hand whipped diagonally— her long fingers, sharp nails, drew the long scar across Samuel's pale face. Samuel was in disbelief he felt his entire body sway from the sudden slap he hadn't expect to be as powerful as it did.

"What are you—" his words were cut off again as his cheeks were tightly squashed by Ilyana's hand.

She stared down at her cousin who she had captured by his face, "I tolerated you, Samuel but my patience is running thin and no human in Shanghai would love seeing my anger. I do not have any bond with Dexter Huang and if you dare to utter his name again in front of me or accuse me of protecting him, then you will have to pay for the price."

Samuel's heart sank but he didn't want to show how he felt intimidated. Despite his mouth being blocked by her palms, he still smile smugly, whispering in defiance, "Try then. Seeing you are angry, doesn't it mean that my word hold a bit of truth? Can you really kill your cousin here and destroy your own reputation?"

To kill a family members is frowned upon in Shanghai, especially in between the Pandoras. Killing Samuel might as well ruin her future and that was the reason why Samuel had never feared her despite knowing that she wouldn't hold back to kill him if he ever anger her.

Ilyana didn't move. She didn't froze up from fear either, however, she was thinking of a way to kill Samuel so he would regret the words he uttered.

The corners of Samuel's lips raised as he first thought Ilyana feared the consequences. How shocked was he when he studied her face and understood the cold glimpse that passed by her eyes, as though she was planning to throw him from the top of the building and watch him die.

Samuel's smile fell as his skin absorbed the terror Ilyana showed.

Her fingernails sunk deeper to the same cut on his face and despite Samuel groaning under her, Ilyana didn't budge. She continue to dig his fresh wound, as if to enlarge the wound on his face and to scar him deeper. Samuel tried to use all his power to jerk himself away from her hold yet her strength was akin to an iron door, so difficult for him to remove.

His teeth gritted and after a ton of effort to push her away, Ilyana finally back down.

"Have you gone mad?!" Samuel yelled, wanting to catch her by her collar and slap her face as she did to him but stopped when he saw the horrifying expression that had took place on her beautiful features.

Ilyana simply stared at him. Her deadly eyes were more hollow then the abyss of a black hole. Samuel couldn't bring himself to look into her eyes.

"Samuel," her ice cold voice turn him into a stone. "Know your place." She warned him off, her tone was that of an ultimatum she rarely use unless she had really snapped. Even Samuel who loved to mess with her couldn't act up anymore out of fear that she would really lose control and brutally murder him in place.

Ilyana turned her body around, her long black hair streamed down on her back while her face was still dark from the rage she couldn't control.

Damn Dexter Huang. The next time she saw that man's face, she swear she would rip it.

Feeling mad, Ilyana's feet had brought herself to the club again.
