They said hell is fire. They were wrong.
But people have always been wrong. At least as far as Shu was concerned. All her life, people treated her horribly. They used her, abused her, and then when they were finished, discarded her.
So, Hell didn’t faze her. Or so she’d have liked to believe. But the pain was too great, and too lasting. She didn’t want to go back.
Never again. A decade would probably just pass by. Quicker than anything… yet, she hoped. She hoped with all her heart, hoping Maria would come… hoping.
“Done yet, Scum?” a voice.
Shu stared past the paperwork but saw no one else in the room. She had her own room, in the corner of the goddess’ office.
“No,” Shu said. “Almost.” These days she’d gotten hang of talking. She still couldn’t hold a proper conversation but at least she could respond better.
“Well, hurry up. I’m getting late for my afternoon tea.”
