“Your rooms should be on the fourth corridor by the terrace-” said the female knight.
Apparently, her name was Claire Forthbright, daughter of a marquess.
They- Maria and her soldiers were back at the gates of the castle-
“You guys would leave today, right?” Maria said, staring back.
Xerc and the other soldiers-
They all offered bows once-
“Only them my lady-” Xerc said. “And right now.”
“Only them? Then you’d remain?”
“Indeed. Though I might be insufficient and even incapable, I pledge to protect my lady, at all costs, from all sorts of dangers.”
The wording-
Somehow made Maria squint. “I see… what about your post?”
Commander Xerces was a distinguished fellow in the Dragonborn army-
He couldn’t possibly waste time here.
“I shall relinquish it if need be.”
A mild sigh. “Alright.” She turned to the knight. “Can you please arrange another guest room for Commander Xerces as well?”
Maria knew conviction when she saw it. And she couldn’t help but respect it.
