"Do you want to go outside with your brothers?" Yongliang asked as he and Everett helped Shihong up. Shihong steadied himself on his feet, looking between the two of them. He slowly nodded his head, biting his lip in pain.
"I just don't want him to come," Shihong whispered, glaring at Sora with a hint of hatred, but also hurt, in his eyes. "I thought you were my best friend, Sora. I guess none of that meant nothing to you."
"You guys knew eachother?" Yongliang asked, glancing at Sora as well.
"We went to school together. Ever since grade school. We were always together," Shihong told him. "But that boy sitting right there, I don't know who he is. But that is definitely not the guy I've known all these years."
"How come he hasn't mentioned you? Or even acted like he knew you in the car?" Yongliang asked softly, causing Shihong to shake his head.
"He's changed," Shihong stated as they started to make their way out of the chapel. Sora got up, moving so that he could follow them but Everett was quick to take out a talisman and throw it at him. Once it hit him, Sora froze mid step, unable to make a movement.
"Stay away from me," Everett hissed before turning back and following the others out the door.
"You're pretty good at talismans," Yongliang told him, causing Everett to give him a shy smile and look down at the ground as they walked.
"Ge mentioned something about a talisman user as well. That one guy he is in the basement with," Shihong said.
"Oh yeah, Seiji is really good too," Yongliang admitted. He then frowned and looked at Shihong. "Wait, you know he's Sora's brother, right?"
"The guy Sora complained about half the time?" Shihong asked with a frown. "I mean I guess I've seen him around school. He's like super popular. But Sora hated it. He would talk so much shit."
"Really now?" Yongliang asked, clenching his jaw. Everett frowned too, not having expected those words.
"Seiji seems really chill. Maybe a little strict, but fun to be around," Everett observed.
"He is," Yongliang said. Everett could see the dark look in his eyes, causing him to shiver slightly.
They made it outside, and Everett immediately spotted his friends and the children all gathered around a mountain goat. He looked over at Shihong and Yongliang, almost laughing at their confused faces. Dongwu was talking to the goat, and the young twins excitedly yelling things at it.
"He can talk to animals," Everett told them. "He's what they call an animal whisperer."
"I thought they were just a myth," Yongliang said, leading Shihong over to the group. "Your friends are really cool!"
"They are!" Everett said with a proud grin.
"Wait, is that Everett?!" Gavin called over to them, looking up from the mountain goat.
"Is he smiling?!" Leon asked with a snicker, jumping over to Everett. The smile suddenly fell off Everett's face.
"Oh my god, who made him smile?!" Leon asked with a laugh, ruffling Everett's hair and causing Everett to groan and slap his hand away.
"Stop that," he said, pouting when he heard Yongliang and Shihong chuckle.
"Gege?!"! They heard one of the twins shout, running over to them as well. He took Shihong's arm, staring at him in worry.
"What happened?!" The other twin cried, running over as well. "Who did this?! Xiao Gege is gonna murder them!"
"Mhm! Xiao Gege will," the first twin agreed, making a punching movement with an upper swing.
"Like he would stand a chance," Shihong said, shaking his head. "Leave it to me and Bolin. Xiaosi doesn't stand a chance."
"But he can use a sword!" one twin said.
"Yeah!" The other said, causing Yongliang to chuckle softly.
"How about you guys watch after your Gege," Yongliang said softly, looking back at Everett. "Should we go back inside?"
Everett nodded and turned from the group, heading back inside. Before they could get far, however, they could hear a sobbing voice from a side room near the entrance. Everett and Yongliang exchanged glances before heading into the room. In the corner was a boy with a white glow sobbing into his knees. Everett's heart hurt at seeing the scene.
"Shi Ai?" Everett asked softly, stepping into the room.
"X-Xuesong?" The boy asked, looking up with a tear stained face. Everett froze, glancing over at Yongliang.
"I won't tell," Yongliang said with a soft smile, nodding his head towards the boy. Everett held eye contact with him for a little while before nodding and continuing over to the boy.
"What's wrong?" Everett asked softly, pulling him into a hug and rubbing his back.
"Th-th-there's scary people everywhere," he whispered. "I-i-in the basement someone shined a light on me. I locked them away, though. A-a-and in the chapel there's scary laughter a-and a person frozen."
"Scary laughter?" Everett asked, looking back at Yongliang.
"We should gather everyone outside. Keep him and the twins safe," Yongliang said, causing Everett to nod his head and turn to the boy.
"Shi Ai, I want you to follow me. My friends outside are going to help you, okay? But you have to trust me," Everett said softly, just as someone came running in.
"Thank god we found someone," Yanjun said, crouching over to catch his breath. Everett looked over at him in alarm. "Shaoqing went up to the bell tower to get Jay and Xiumin."
"What's wrong?" Everett asked, looking around nervously.
"There was a demon," Yanjun said, causing Shi Ai to let out a distressed sob. "Shaoqing was able to fight it off told me to find the others. But I can't get into the basement."
"O-only I can unlock it," Shi Ai said quietly. Everett looked over at Yongliang, biting his lip nervously.
"Get Yanjun outside. Please," he said, worry evident in his voice. "Keep the group together. Gavin and Leon have very weak spiritual energy, and Yanjun's isn't very controlled yet. I'll go with Shi Ai to get your friends."
"Go," Yongliang said with a nod. "Seiji can hold his own, but Xiaosi can't. We'll need him."
Everett nodded and looked at Shi Ai, asking him to lead the way to the basement. Shi Ai looked around shyly before nodding and leading Everett out, his whole body shaking. Once they made it to the basement door, Shi Ai unlocked it and opened it, revealing the other two sitting on the stairs. Seiji lifted his head to look at Everett.
"Demons are here," Everett said, causing Seiji's eyes to widen and jump up, quickly helping up the other boy. "Your brother is in the chapel. I put a talisman on him to freeze him in place because he wouldn't leave me alone and he broke the one boy's nose…. Shilong or something. But I think there's a demon in there."
"He did what?!" Seiji asked, balling his fists. "Get Xiaosi to the others. I'll go to my brother."
"Alright," Everett said, nodding his head and looking at Shi Ai and Xiaosi. "Let's go."
Seiji sighed and closed his eyes, taking in a deep breath. for all he knew, he might have to fight a demon.
