章 12: 10. First Catch In Viridian Forest
"Thank you for helping us move the Pokeballs." Nurse Joy of Viridian City said as she is looking at a computer.
On it was another Nurse Joy of another city as they both were talking with each other.
"It was no problem. I'm just glad that I was able to help you and the Pokemon as well." The Nurse Joy said to her. (A/N: Can anyone tell me which city's Nurse Joy she was talking to?)
"Well, it was mostly thanks to the trainers that were here." Nurse Joy said to her.
"They must be strong then. Wait, are they at the Pokemon Centre or did they go on their way?" The Nurse Joy on screen asked.
"They helped with moving the rubble and then went on their way. One trainer among them, Shu, is also a psychic so he helped a lot by moving the more heavier rubble." Nurse Joy of Viridian said with a smile.
"A psychic huh. You don't see them everyday. The only psychic that I know of is the gym leader of the Saffron Gym." The Nurse Joy on the computer said with a smile.
"Yes I was surprised as well. I made sure to thank him appropriately and gave him a few Pokemon food and medicine as compensation." Viridian Nurse Joy said with a smile. (A/N: It's going to be a problem if two Nurse Joy's were to talk together. Thankfully, it doesn't happen often.)
"That was a good thing you did. I'm sure he was quite happy to get them." Computer Nurse Joy said with a smile.
"They were. Though, I have to stop this conversation since I need to tend to the Pokemon Centre." Viridian Nurse Joy said to her.
"Alright, then good luck Joy." Computer Nurse Joy said with a smile.
"You too Joy." Viridian Nurse Joy said as she waved with a smile.
Then the call was cut off as the screen went black. Nurse Joy then got up and left the room to go to the hall where Officer Jenny was talking with an officer when her attention was caught by the Nurse.
"So, did the Pokeballs reach the other centre safely?" Officer Jenny asked her.
"Yes all the Pokeballs reached there safe and sound." Nurse Joy said with a smile.
"That's a relief. It was good that those three were here huh." Officer Jenny said with a smile.
"Yes, I hope that they have a safe trip to Pewter City." Nurse Joy said with Officer Jenny nodding in agreement.
Meanwhile in Viridian Forest
"Do you ever shut up about your bike!" Ash shouted in an annoyed tone.
"Well I wouldn't be like this if you didn't break it!" Misty shouted in anger as she glared at him.
"I said it was an accident okay so stop following me!" Ash shouted in anger.
"Never! I will keep on following you until you buy me a new bike!" Misty shouted back in anger.
Behind the two who were still verbally fighting is Shu who is rubbing his forehead with two of his fingers while Nidoran and Pikachu who are walking beside him are looking at the fighting duo.
'By Arceus! They've been going at it for hours. Is this what Brock had to deal with?' Shu thought to himself as he sighed.
"Just leave me alone!" Ash shouted in anger.
"Never!" Misty said as she glared at him.
"Would you two please stop fighting? We are in the middle of the forest and I want to get to Pewter City as soon as I can." Shu said to the two catching their attention.
"Shu tell her to stop following me!" Ash said to his friend.
"Hey he broke my bike so I have the right to follow him!" Misty countered as she looked at Shu.
'These two...' Shu thought as he sighed.
Ash glared at Misty before looking ahead and then stopping as he spotted a Caterpie on a stump.
"Hey what is that Pokemon?" Ash said as he took out his Pokedex.
This caught the other's attention as they looked and saw the Pokemon. Misty at seeing the bug type stopped moving while Pikachu walked forward. Shu and Nidoran just stayed and watched.
Ash's Pokedex gave its information as Shu looked at the Caterpie. Then something in the trees caught his attention as he turned his head and looked in its direction.
'Isn't that...' Shu thought to himself as he got a clear look at the Pokemon.
He gained a smile on his face as he took out one of his Pokeballs and enlarged it and stealthily walked towards it with Nidoran looking at his trainer but not moving.
"Alright I'm going to catch it." Ash said as he took out a Pokeball.
"Wait you're not serious about catching it are you?" Misty asked scared.
"I sure am. I want to be a Pokemon Master, so of course I have to catch more Pokemon to get stronger." Ash said as he got ready with the Pokeball.
"Hey wait, can't you catch any other Pokemon other than that one?" Misty asked in a pleading tone.
"Oh leave me be. I can't choose what Pokemon I can catch." Ash said as he got ready to throw his Pokeball.
He turned the front of his cap to the back and raised his leg like he was about to throw a baseball.
"Go Pokeball!" Ash shouted as he threw the Pokeball.
The Pokeball went and hit the Caterpie as it opened and Caterpie turned to a light red light before going into the Pokeball. The Pokeball fell on the stump and started to shake as the group minus Shu and Nidoran watched.
*Click*
The clicking sound was heard as for a few seconds no one did anything.
"I did it? I did it! I got Caterpie!" Ash shouted happily as he ran to the Pokeball.
"Look Pikachu we have a new friend." Ash said as he showed the Pokeball to Pikachu who is also looking at the Pokeball.
"I caught my first Pokemon! I caught my first Pokemon!" Ash shouted happily.
"Just keep it away from meeee!" Misty said before she was pulled by Ash using her arm.
"I caught a Pokemon I caught a Pokemon! I am one step more on the path to becoming a Pokemon Master!" Ash celebrated as he ran around in circles with the Pokeball in his right hand and Misty in his left as she is being helplessly pulled by him.
"Hey stop!" Misty said as she yanked her arm out of his grasp.
"Look Misty, this is my newest Pokemon that I caught." Ash said as he showed her the Pokeball to which she looked away and raised her hands to shield herself from the Pokeball.
"Alright alright, just keep it away from me." Misty said in a pleading tone.
"What is wrong with you? Hey Shu, look I caught my first Pokemon." Ash said happily looking at Shu's direction.
Only to find Nidoran standing there which confused Ash. Misty and Pikachu also looked confused. Nidoran seeing that used his left arm to point at the direction Shu went as the group looked at said direction.
They managed to see Shu who is a few paces away from them as a Pokeball landed on his hand as he smiled. They could see the Pokeball shaking before a click sound was heard signifying that he has captured a Pokemon.
"You caught another Pokemon." Ash said surprised.
"Yep. Since I had a chance I thought why not. You were also catching the Caterpie and it seems like you did catch it." Shu said as he walked back to the group with his Pokeball in hand.
"Well, why don't we bring out our Pokemon's and let them meet eachother." Ash said as he showed the Caterpie's Pokeball.
"Sure." Shu said taking out Mankey's Pokeball as well.
Then the two opened their Pokeball's as three Pokemon's appeared in front of them.
From Ash's Pokeball came a Caterpie. While from Shu's Pokeballs a Mankey and a Weedle came out.
"Wow, what's that Pokemon?" Ash said as he took out Dexter.
While Dexter was explaining about Weedle the three Pokemon we're meeting each other as Nidoran and Pikachu were also talking with then while Shu smiled at their interaction.
"Wow, so it's a bug type Pokemon like Caterpie. Aren't they cute Misty? Misty?" Ash said before looking around in confusion when he couldn't find Misty.
"Uh Ash." Shu called out to his friend with a sweat drop.
Ash looked at Shu who is pointing to the back of the former as Ash looked behind him. He found Misty hiding behind a tree with a scared look and was quite far from them.
The Pokemon also saw her and Caterpie at seeing her cried loudly before quickly making his way to her to the surprise of the rest.
'Yep, that's the same Caterpie alright.' Shu thought to himself with a sweat drop.
"Aaaaahhhh! Get this bug away from me!" Misty shouted as Caterpie rubbed itself on her leg.
"What is wrong with you Misty? Caterpie seems to like you." Ash said to her with a confused look as the group are now with him.
"Well I don't like it so take it away." Misty said as she looked at Caterpie who looked back at her.
She fell on the ground before crawling back a bit.
"Ash! Get that stupid Pokemon back in your Pokeball!" Misty shouted angrily.
"Yeah, no. What is wrong with you? Caterpie is so cute, look at him." Ash said as Caterpie was sad.
Pikachu went and patted the Bug type before Misty picked Pikachu up.
"You know what. You be friends with that Caterpie while I will be friends with Pikachu." Misty said as she petted Pikachu.
"Yeah right. Pikachu is only my friend. He shocks othe—" Ash said but stopped when he saw to his surprise that Pikachu is enjoying being petted by Misty.
'He's not shocking her and he is letting her pet him!' Ash thought to himself shocked as he saw Pikachu's happy face.
"Pikachuuuu." Ash said as he grinded his teeth with an angry look.
"Well, at least you don't seem to want her attention that much." Shu said as he petted his Weedle which is currently on his shoulder.
Caterpie then crawled closer to Misty catching her attention.
"Ash get this stupid Pokemon out of my sights. It is one of the three most disgusting things that I hate!" Misty shouted out loud.
"Aside from you what are the other three disgusting things?" Ash said with an exasperated look.
'Damn. I forgot how much of a roaster he was due to him mellowing down over the years.' Shu thought to himself as his eyes widened.
His Nidoran and Mankey were also shocked as they understood what Ash said while Weedle didn't get it.
"Very funny. Carrots, Peppers and Bugs! I hate them very much!" Misty proclaimed for them to hear.
"Oh yeah well I like Carrots, Peppers and Bugs!" Ash said making a face as he used his index finger to pull his mouth sideways as he showed her his tongue.
"Should I interfere?" Shu asked his Pokemon.
The three Pokemon looked at each other before looking at their trainer and shaking their heads sideways in a no.
"Well, I don't need your opinion about what Pokemon I should have. Me and Shu can go on our own. Come on Caterpie, climb on my shoulder." Ash said as he kneeled in front of Caterpie.
Caterpie crawled on his left arm and sat on his shoulder.
"Well, see you." Ash said as he walked away.
Pikachu jumped from Misty's hands and walked behind his trainer.
"Yeah! I don't need you!" Misty shouted back in anger.
"Want to stay out Mankey? Since we are going through a forest?" Shu asked the Monkey Pokemon.
Mankey jumped happily as Shu nodded in confirmation. He then walked with Weedle on his shoulder and Nidoran walking beside his feet. He just bowed a bit to Misty before he caught up to Ash as the two walked on the path.
