Chapter 2:Huh, this room is pretty cool, it gives off a mysterious type of vibe. I already figured something was off about this building." Issei said as he took in the appearance of the club room.
The interior is a wood-paneled room with Victorian-style couches and chairs along the wall. One side could be seen set up as a bath, he noticed the large magic circle on the other side. Obviously it's used for teleportation, he would know as he and Kushina have their own set up in their home.
"I'm glad to hear you approve of our club room, Uzumaki-san." Rias smiled softly.
After school was over, Issei was approached by Yuuto Kiba, much to the shock of all the fangirls. It seemed Koneko informed Rias about him a little sooner than he expected, truthfully he wasn't expecting to talk to Rias until tomorrow or the next day. But this works too, apparently she sent Kiba to bring Issei to the Occult Research Club. Issei had never been inside of the old school building, when Kiba led him through, Issei took the opportunity to check the interior out. There was also another presence he sensed that felt unfamiliar, whoever it was he could tell by their emotions that they are nervous and a bit scared for some reason.
Speaking of Yuuto, he was leaning against the wall watching Issei and Rias. Akeno Himejima looked at Issei with her usual smile and poured him a cup of tea.
"Thank you." Issei said as he took a sip of the hot tea.
"Thank you Akeno." Rias voiced to her Queen.
"Fufufu~ it's no problem." Akeno giggled, she took her place standing at Rias's side.
Rias and Issei were sitting across from one another, each on a couch.
Koneko wanted to sit next to Issei, however seeing how it wouldn't be appropriate at the moment, she settled on standing next to Kiba.
"So any reason you called me here?" Issei asked.
"Yes, Koneko has informed me that you know our secret?" Rias replied.
Issei nodded. "I've known about you guys prior to my first day at this school."
"I see, well then I believe before we take this conversation any further I would like to apologize, I never wanted to bring you into my peerage the way I originally planned to. It's just that I was becoming very desperate and running out of options." Rias knew her apology and excuses were pathetic. However, if she wanted things to be right between her and Issei, then she needed to be honest.
"Yeah you potentially allowing me to be killed by Fallen Angels to reincarnate and bring me into your peerage isn't exactly pleasing to hear. Luckily I know how Devils work, so I'm not upset about it. There's no point in being mad at something that hasn't happened yet." Issei shrugged. "Apology accepted."
Rias sighed in relief, she said Issei wasn't mad at her. She expected him to blow up in her face in rage. "Thank you, I really appreciate you accepting my apology, Uzumaki-san."
"Ok enough of this Uzumaki-san shit, please just call me Issei or Ise. Formalities aren't big with me." Issei said, living with Kushina for 8 years taught him that Uzumakis and formality didn't mix well.
Rias was surprised but smiled, this is progress in the right direction. "Very well, Issei-kun, you can call me Rias to make it fair."
"Great, so let's cut to the chase. I know Koneko-chan told you what I am. So just ask me what you really want to ask already." The Red Dragon Emperor stated, all of this beating around the bush is annoying him a bit.
To be honest he's pretty sure he's going to join Rias's peerage. Not only because Kushina suggested it, he can tell that Koneko really wants him to join. Issei will hate it if he causes his best friend to be sad because he chose not to join. Also it helps that Rias apologized to him at the beginning of their little meeting.
Rias didn't bat an eye with the way he got to the point of this meeting, she found it pretty amusing.
"Alright, that works for me, Koneko told me you know everything and about your heritage somewhat. She also mentioned that you have a Sacred Gear, do you mind telling me which one?" Rias asked the brown-haired boy.
Issei smirked slightly from the edge of his lips then held up his left hand as it glowed red for a moment, revealing a red dragon-type gauntlet with 10 golden spikes and two shining emerald green jewels.
He enjoyed seeing the shocked expressions of Rias, Kiba, Akeno and Koneko. "As you can see I am the wielder of the Boosted Gear."
"The Red Dragon Emperor…" Rias uttered in disbelief, this whole time the Red Dragon Emperor was Issei? Unbelievable.
"Uh huh, I found out about it 6 years ago when I was 11." Issei informed the group.
"6 years? How did you go that long undetected by any factions? At least one of them like the Fallen Angels for example would have picked up on you awakening your Sacred Gear if anything." Rias wondered, she's not lying, at least one faction should have detected Issei by now.
"Let's just say I was way off the grid when I awakened Ddraig." Issei answered.
"Ddraig?"
"Y Ddraig Goch is the name of the Red Dragon of Domination who resides in the Boosted Gear, he's also my partner who likes to sleep all damn day." Issei sighed saying the last part of his sentence, Ddraig is too damn lazy!
Akeno ended up giggling seeing Issei sigh, it seems he has an interesting relationship with his Sacred Gear.
Rias on the other hand….
"Please join my peerage!" The Crimson-Ruin Princess stood and slammed her palms on the table, much to the shock of her peerage and Issei's amusement.
Akeno didn't expect Rias to lose her composure, usually she can keep her excitement under better control. Guess she's just that interested in Issei now Akeno figured.
"Hmmm well I'm already part Devil so it's not like it'll change much biology wise, Koneko-chan is in it too, plus sexy girls like you and Akeno are also in it but before I give you an answer tell me why are you so desperate for me to join your peerage?" Issei seriously wanted to know, it can't just be only for his Sacred Gear.
Akeno and Rias both blushed slightly hearing his compliment, it's not the first they've heard that kind of compliment about them. Though hearing it from someone as attractive as Issei…yeah.
Rias cleared her throat. "Very well, it's no point in hiding it. I'm engaged to another heir of a different family of nobility. How much do you know about the Underworld?"
"I know enough about how society works there, I also know a good chunk of the history of the 72 Pillars and such. I know about the three main factions as well as the others, so if you're asking if I'm knowledgeable about the supernatural overall then the answer is yes." Issei answered.
The red haired woman nodded. "Good then this will save a lot of explaining, my brother who is one of the Four Satans set me up for an arranged marriage before I was born. The man I'm engaged to is both an heir and the third son of the Phenex Clan, his name is Riser Phenex. From the moment we first met, I never liked him, now I hate him and lately he's been bugging me more about our engagement. Unfortunately it's only a matter of time before he shows up to attempt to take me back to the Underworld to get married, I'd rather kill myself than marry that arrogant, disgusting pig for a man." Rias' hands balled up into tight fists.
Sensing her emotions, Issei can feel the hatred and disgust Rias holds for this Riser Phenex.
Continuing from where she left off. "My plan is to face Riser in a Rating Game in order to win my freedom and break off the engagement. That's why I'm trying to recruit you, Riser has a full peerage set while I only have 3 pieces if I'm excluding myself."
Issei figured it must be a reason why she didn't bring up the other presence he sensed earlier. Whoever it was, they feel like a Devil and Vampire, then there's also the active Sacred Gear he sensed from the same person. He decided to let it go, it's possible he'll find out about them eventually.
"I don't know too much about Rating Games, though I've seen a couple matches to know enough on how the game works. It's similar to chess and shogi in a way." Issei said.
"Chess pieces are used to set up peerages, do you know about the Evil Pieces?" Rias questioned.
"Somewhat, I just know that they have the ability to revive people into Devils." The Red Dragon Emperor shrugged.
"Aside from that they also grant special abilities, I can give you more details about them at a different time. Did my explanation satisfy you?" The Gremory heiress voiced.
"Why yes it did, long story short you need my help in kicking your fiancé's ass. Sounds entertaining, fine I'll join your peerage." Issei said.
"REALLY?!" Rias shouted in happiness then she heard Akeno coughing before she quickly fixed herself. "I-I mean really?" She spoke in a lower tone, a bit embarrassed.
Issei found her embarrassment amusing and cute. "Yes really, I can tell Koneko-chan will be upset if I don't join. However I do have one condition."
"Name it." Rias replied.
Issei smiled. "You, Kiba and Akeno-chan have to agree to be my friends, Koneko is already my best friend making her excluded. See, I've only been living in Kuoh Town for around 10 months and this school for 8 making me an outcast. Most of the girls here and nothing but annoying fangirls and I'm positive 99% of the guys hate me for my looks no matter how stupid that is. Kinda hard to make real legit friends when that's what I have to work with. Befriending Koneko-chan was the best thing I experienced so far since coming to this school. I don't particularly mind being a loner, though my main purpose of even attending school was to make friends."
Rias, Kiba and Akeno were surprised, none of them was expecting his condition to be that simple. It honestly completely threw them off hearing such an honesty. Koneko on the other hand was blushing because of what he said.
'Issei-kun…baka…' The white Nekoshou thought.
Kiba could relate to Issei very much so, he has his own fair share of fan girls with most of the guys in school hating him. Unlike Issei however, Kiba had real friends he could go to while Issei didn't until Koneko came along for him.
'His smile…' Akeno didn't know why, although she was finding herself more interested in Issei.
"I don't mind becoming your friend Issei-kun, even if you decided not to join my peerage I would still want to become friends with you." Rias told him in an honest tone.
"I agree fufufu~." Akeno said.
"Same here." Kiba added his input.
"Great! Then we have a deal, Rias-chan." Issei was happy they agreed. While he wasn't too fond of having a master to answer to, he figured everything will work out like Kushina said it will.
Rias released a sigh, her chest and shoulders felt lighter than they did a moment ago. She was happy Issei agreed to join, even more happy that she didn't have to let him be killed in order for him to join. She wouldn't have been surprised if Issei declined her off, especially with the way she went about trying to recruit him.
She took out her Evil Pieces set and placed them on the table. 1 Bishops, 1 Rook, 1 Knight and 8 Pawns. Issei gazed over each piece, feeling the power of each Evil Piece radiating, he quickly came to a decision.
"I'll go with a Pawn piece, I have a strong feeling the Pawn piece is a perfect fit for me." He said.
"A Pawn? Interesting how you chose the weakest piece." Rias grinned softly.
"Even the weakest soldier can hold value on the battlefield no matter how insignificant that value may seem at first glance." Issei sagely commented.
Rias and Issei stood across from each other, under their feet in a red magic circle created by Rias. She held up one Pawn piece to Issei's chest. "In the name of Rias Gremory, I command thee, Issei Uzumaki, that thy soul becomes my servant." Rias stated.
Nothing happened.
"Hmm ok let's try two pieces."
Nothing happened.
"Three pieces."
Same result.
"5?"
Nope.
"The hell with it, just use all 8 Pawn pieces." Issei suggested.
Rias did, she used all 8 Pawn pieces on Issei. She was surprised when the 8 pieces glowed red, as they began to merge into Issei, she became stunned to the core when the 8 Pawn pieces transformed into Mutation Pieces before fully merging with Issei. The Gremory heiress had no idea that Evil Pieces could transform into Mutation Pieces during the process of the ritual.
'Did all of his pieces really mutate or did I imagine that?' Rias asked herself.
Issei was glad it worked, he kinda had a feeling it wouldn't work due to the massive difference in power between him and Rias. But it looks like there's nothing to worry about.
"Huh so this is what it feels like to be reincarnated into a Devil? Well I definitely feel the increase of my power…this is pretty cool not gonna lie." Issei spoke up while checking himself out, he brought out his Devil wings, noting that they grew in size a little.
Rias shook herself out of her thoughts then smiled at her newest servant. "Seems like there's more to you than I thought, welcome to the peerage, Issei-kun."
"Like Buchou said, welcome to the peerage, Issei-kun." Akeno added.
Kiba and Koneko nodded in agreement.
Issei smiled. "Thanks, I hope you all take good care of me." He joked.
"We will, the Gremory family prides itself on treating their servants as family." Rias voiced with pride in her tone.
"Issei-kun, if you already knew about the Fallen Angels following you. Why didn't you take care of them already?" Koneko wondered, this is the first time she's spoken since the meeting started.
"Well for starters I didn't want to give myself away to you guys yet, another reason is I wanted them to strike first. It gives me the perfect excuse to kill them when they do." Issei replied.
Eventually it was only Issei and Rias left in the club room, the others had contracts they needed to complete for their Devil jobs. Issei will start working on his contracts within the next couple days.
"How do you want me to refer to you as? Buchou like the others? Not that I mind but I like calling you Rias-chan." Issei smirked at her.
Rias was a little surprised though she did give him a seductive smile. "Hmmm I guess I can make an exception for you Issei-kun. In public please refer to me as Buchou like the others, in private you can call me Rias." She didn't understand why she felt excited by Issei wanting to call her by her name.
"I can agree with that, so be honest with me Rias, how often do you really train yourself and your peerage?" Issei asked her.
Blinking in surprise, Rias thought of an answer until she realized what her answer was.
"…Not much…" She admitted to her embarrassment.
The Red Dragon Emperor sighed, he figured this was the situation. For an heiress like Rias he felt that she should be a lot stronger than what he's sensing, same could be said for Koneko. The Nekoshou should be well-versed in senjutsu at her current age, yet he could tell Koneko hardly, if ever uses senjutsu. He sensed the Fallen Angel energy residing within Akeno, he felt that her Demonic/Magical Power should be higher. From what he knows about Kiba, he's a swordsman with a lot of untapped potential.
"I was afraid that was your answer." Issei sighed.
"Is it a problem?"
"It's a huge problem, especially if you are trying to fight for your freedom. Let me guess, you were banking on me to be your ace if shit hits the fan, am I right?" Issei asked in a serious tone.
Rias had been caught off guard by his sudden change in demeanor. "N-Not necessarily, I was just hoping you had a powerful Sacred Gear to add to the fire power of my peerage." She answered.
"That's not much better Rias, look I didn't mention this earlier but I'm a shinobi. Koneko told you I have chakra right? Hell you should be able to sense it yourself." Issei said.
"A shinobi? You mean you're a ninja like in anime and manga?!" Rias questioned, trying so hard to hide her excitement due to being an otaku.
"Something like that, see I train almost every day to always improve myself. In a way you can say I'm sorta a child soldier. I've fought a lot of hard battles over the last 8 years. Look I'm not calling you weak by any means Rias so don't think that I am. However I believe all of you should be a lot stronger than you currently are. If you want our master/servant relationship to work out in the long run meaning if you don't want me to leave the peerage. I need you to actually start training and I mean real hard training. I refuse to serve under a master who doesn't utilize their potential and the potential of their servants. I refuse to serve under a master who is going to always rely on others to bail them out. I already wasn't too fond of having a master in the first place, but if I'm going to have one. Then I at least want to be proud to be serving under a master who is not only caring of their servants but strong as well." Issei broke it down to Rias, he didn't want to come off that harsh though he needed Rias to understand that she's wasting her and her peerages' potential.
His words stung said girl deep within her core, was she really holding her friends back? She always thought she could've been more supportive of Akeno and her issues with her father. Maybe she could've convinced Akeno to accept her Fallen Angel blood while still being upset with her father? Maybe then Akeno wouldn't reject using her Holy Lightning. Did she do enough to help Kiba get through his trauma from the Holy Sword Project? No, she tried but in the end just waited until Kiba came to her. Maybe she should've comforted him more? She knows he still holds a hatred for Holy Swords. Koneko is still scared of her senjutsu abilities, she doesn't even like showing her Nekomata characteristics to anyone. What did Rias do about it? Sure she helped Koneko gradually get over her trauma, however was it enough if Koneko is still rejecting that side of her? The answer is obvious, no she didn't. Then there's Gasper, she allowed her precious Bishop to be locked away instead of doing more to support and help Gasper. Maybe Gasper wouldn't be so reclusive to hiding in a box if Rias had done more. Maybe she could've gotten herself out of her engagement on her own if she was strong enough to defeat Riser herself. Then again it's obvious Rias will never be as talented as her brother Sirzechs on both a strategic and combat level. She's nothing more than a failure to her family and friends.
Issei felt the sudden shift in her emotions and became alarmed. He felt so much sadness, tears could be seen rolling out of her eyes.
"I-I-I you're right, I-I could've done more, I should've done more than just rely on someone else to bail me out. I-I'm nothing more than a failure as a heiress and a master!" Rias began sobbing, between this and her engagement. It's all becoming too much for her right now.
'Aw shit, I wasn't supposed to make her cry! Seriously?! Damn it I knew I came off too harsh! Kushina-chan warned me about this I don't know how many times. I need to stop being so blunt all the time.' Issei thought to himself as he walked over and hugged Rias to comfort her.
"I'm sorry I came off that harsh, I'm often told I'm too blunt at times. Look I didn't say that to hurt your feelings, my intention was to help you realize your faults so you can try to improve on them. You're not a failure in any way nor are you alone in this, especially since I'm here now. I'll help you every step of the way if I have to, I can train you to help you grow stronger. I may not look like it but I'm very powerful."
They were sitting on a couch together, Issei was rubbing her back with one of his hands using his chakra to help her calm down. It worked as she was no longer sobbing in his chest, though his shirt was soaked due to her tears.
Rias looked from his chest into light-brown eyes, her hands were gripping his sides. "Really? You'll actually help me train? The others too?"
"Sure why not, we are all friends now and it would be really fun helping you guys grow stronger. Again I'm really sorry for-"
He was cut off by Rias throwing her arms around his neck, wrapping him in a tight hug. "Thank you so much Issei-kun!" She thanked him, having a beaming smile on her face.
Issei enjoyed how cute she looked, plus he enjoyed his face being pressed into her breasts.
'Maybe having a harem will be better than I thought, especially if I can somehow get Rias, Akeno and Koneko to join. Hmmm let's see how everything works out naturally.' Issei thought to himself.
Rias released her hug before saying. "When can we start?"
"Now if you want unless you have homework or something you gotta do. I have a training area in my home. We can start by assessing your current level of skill, then we'll go from there. This is honestly a good time to show you some of my other abilities, I may be the Red Dragon Emperor, that doesn't mean I rely solely on the Boosted Gear." Issei said.
Rias was very interested in the prospect of learning more about her newest servant. She didn't understand why she was excited to spend more time with him?
'I can't be…? No it's too soon besides don't all men look the same to me anyways?…however…' Rias blushed slightly from her thoughts.
"Do you want to use the teleportation circle to get to your house?" She asked.
Issei shook his head. "No need, I have a different method of transportation we're going to use."
Rias became stunned when she saw Issei's eyes changed to blood red with 3 black tomoes in each eye, then his eyes suddenly turned into an odd hourglass-like shape, she's unaware of the fact she's gazing at Issei's Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan.
"Wow…" The Crimson Ruin Princess was very mesmerized by this.
The brown-haired boy smirked a bit. "Yeah, I know…Kamui!"
Rias watched the air in front of her swirl as if it was tearing, what she was not expecting to see is a circular portal forming, she could literally see the other side through the portal. Definitely looks like a training room to her.
"How did you…?"
"It's one of my bloodline abilities, I'll explain it more during our training session. Just know these eyes you are seeing are called the Sharingan."
They made their way through the portal.
(Uzumaki Residence, Training Room)
"Again." Issei voiced out loud.
Rias, who was standing at least 20 feet away from him was breathing very heavily, she's extremely tired since Issei has been running her ragged for four hours straight now. Rias truly can't remember the last time she's been pushed this hard, if ever in her life. Currently she's wearing a pink tracksuit with white gym shoes since she changed out of her school uniform soon after her and Issei arrived here. She was impressed by how spacious and well-equipped the training room, one side of the room had weights, training dummies, work out equipment and so on, while the other side was a huge training arena to either spar or do other physical training. Rias had to admit that Issei's training room was better than her family's training area back in her home in the Underworld. What really surprised her is the fact there's a door inside this room that leads to an outdoor battlefield surrounded by a decent sized forest. The two of them are currently at the outdoor battlefield.
Putting her arms out in front of her, the Crimson-Haired Ruin Princess channeled her red demonic power through her body then proceeded to unleash a straight wave of her Power of Destruction directly toward Issei. Standing his ground, Issei lifted his left hand, stopping the wave of demonic energy as soon as energy clashed against his palm. Rias really wanna know how can he do that so effortlessly without being harmed in the slightest. After all, the Power of Destruction is said to completely annihilate anything in its way when used, her brother is a perfect example to think of.
Issei was studying the residual energy of her attack that's on his hand. He's comparing it to one of his own demonic abilities, surprisingly they were very similar in almost every way.
"Huh, interesting, very interesting, well Rias I think that's enough for today." Issei told her.
"Oh thank maou-sama." Rias gasped before she fell flat on her ass, taking several deep breaths after her last attack. Her reserves have never been this low on Demonic Power, she felt completely drained of stamina and sore all over her body.
"I gotta admit Rias-chan, for someone who isn't used to this type of harsh training, you did really well in my opinion. Honestly Rias from what I saw today, without training you have the potential to become a Devil of the highest class relying on your natural talent alone, I'm not just referring to Ultimate-Class Devil, you're brother is one of the Four Satans right? Sirzechs Lucifer? Well you two look a lot alike, I don't know too much about him though I do know he along with Ajuka Beezlebub are known as Super Devils. That's the kind of power I know you can reach one day." Issei said to her with a small grin, he's not lying about her potential though she can reach it much quicker if she actually trains.
Rias was going to respond until Issei kneeled down in front of her, she saw his hand glow in a greenish-blue light which then he shone it upon her, soon her body was covered in a greenish-blue aura. She felt her stamina returning though her soreness remained. "Do you really think I can get that powerful?" Part of her always felt inferior to her brother.
"Without question, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten your hopes up like that. Now is relying on your natural talent, imagine if you actually trained hard to get stronger? I know Devils usually grow and mature into their power, but one with potential like yours , can achieve so much more by both relying on your natural talent and training yourself hard. Do you really believe your brother achieved his strength by not training at all?" Issei responded.
Rias blushed at his praise, did she really have that much potential?
"Now that I praised you enough, it's time to go over your flaws. First is your attacks with your Power Of Destruction are too predictable, too repetitive and are lacking in power. Your hand-to-hand combat skills are absolutely atrocious although you're an excellent battle tactician. Your overall speed is slow, your attack timing and reaction time are slow. Lastly, you rely on your Power of Destruction way too much to the point where your over-reliance can be seen as a weakness in battle to target by enemies. It would be different if you had a higher level of mastery over it, however as you are now it's a weakness that can be exploited if someone starts to notice your attack pattern." The Red Dragon Emperor explained in detail.
Rias flinched hearing some of his criticisms, she knew she had little to no skill in hand-to-hand combat, on the other hand she agreed with him about her reliance on her Power of Destruction.
"What do you mean by my attacks are too predictable and lacking in power?" Rias wondered.
"Predictable as in it's easy to read to pattern on your demonic energy attacks, you give yourself away sometimes by taking too long to build up your attacks. Repetitive as in you do the same energy wave with your PoD, literally try shaping your power into demonic energy balls sometimes or focus into to shoot a beam instead of a wave. Speaking of focus, you need to focus on adding more power into your attacks, those training dummies I had you shoot at earlier should've been erased from existence, not destroyed into pieces." Issei said.
"B-But the material of the dummies were extremely strong…" Rias tried to say.
"No excuses, your demonic powers has erasure properties for a reason. Don't worry though, I'm positive with only a month or two of my intense training regimen for you, you'll be at the level of an Ultimate-Class Devil at the bare minimum." Issei stated.
Rias's eyes widened in shock. "Are you serious?!"
"Of course, I plan to make all of you guys much stronger. Anyways, we can continue training again after school tomorrow. Since I'm the one who offered to train you, if you want to take a bath in the onsen you can, the water has special healing properties in it that heals injuries, which is why I didn't heal your soreness when I restored your stamina to full capacity. After that I'll cook you a nice meal to celebrate your first day of your training." Issei grinned softly at the red head, he held out his hand, offering to help her stand on her feet.
Suddenly Issei just became perfect boyfriend material to Rias, even if he did say some harsh things he was only saying it to help her improve her flaws. Rias highly doubts she ever would've trained this hard if it wasn't for Issei's words back in the club room.
"Are you sure? I don't want to intrude."
"It's fine, trust me you're not intruding at all. Besides since I'm the newest member of your peerage, wouldn't it make sense if we spent more time together in order to have a stronger bond? Possibly even more so if we bathe together though I don't want you to feel uncomfortable since we only became friends just today."
Rias didn't mind showing her body, although she usually doesn't let men see her no matter how much she may tease them with her seductive expressions. She couldn't sleep with clothes on so she always sleeps naked, plus Issei didn't stare at her like she was an object for sex, he was cute too.
"I don't mind sharing a bath with you, you are right in saying we do need to spend more time around each other to make our bond stronger. I'll take you up on your offer." Rias smiled as she took hold of his hand, he pulled her up to her feet.
"Good, afterwards I'll introduce you to my fiancée." Issei led her out of the battlefield.
Rias was shocked by this revelation. "You're engaged?!"
"Yep, she's the reason why I became what I am today, I'm sure you and her will get along just well, she may join us in the bath." Issei chuckled.
Rias found herself wondering what kind of woman is Issei engaged to, maybe she's powerful like Issei?
Oh Rias, if only you knew of the power Kushina holds within her palms.
