章 28: Secret Lair

Oliver’s Pov

I made it back before noon, finding the Alpha’s personal den in a mess. Crystal shards twinkled as the soft light coming from the opened windows shone through.

The broken glass scrunched under my heavy footsteps, locating where Alpha Matteo had gone. At the far corner, the secret door leading to his stash of alcoholic drinks was ajar.

I gathered that the meeting with the council didn’t end on a good note. Was it a bad time to tell him about Leila, then?

I set the thought aside, contemplating how to approach a seething, furious Alpha.

Upon approaching the door, I paused and knocked softly.

“It’s me, Oliver,” I announced, allowing a few seconds to pass before pushing the door open wide.

There, I found Alpha Matteo sitting in his leather seat, a bottle of whiskey in his hand.

“Everything's alright,” Alpha Matteo spoke, his voice sounding far away. “The meeting was as I expected.”
