Week 3
"Am I still going to sleep on the couch?"
"No, I think you've learned your lesson."
"Awesome. Are you free today?"
"Only for the next hour and a half. Did you want to do something?"
"There's someone I want you to meet. She's a friend that I met yesterday."
"Really?"
"Yeah, I'm sure you'll like her too."
"If you say so."
"Why do I have a bad feeling about this?" Tis asked.
"You're not the only one."
He took her to a nearby café, and there was a girl already waiting for them. She was 5'5, and well... let's just say, she had way more going on with her chest than Twilight. In short, she was every guy's dream girl. To make matters worse, she was the same girl from Twilight's dream.
"This is Matako, the friend I was telling you about. Matako, this is Twilight."
"Nice to meet you," Matako said.
"Same here," She replied.
An hour later...
"Well, I have somewhere to get to in half an hour, so I'll get going. It was nice meeting you," Twilight got up to leave.
"I'll be back in a second." He told Matako before going after Twilight.
"Are you ok?" He asked.
"Yeah."
"Are you sure? You barely said anything the entire time, which isn't like you, and you looked kind of off. Is it because you don't like Matako?"
"No. I like her; she seems ok. It's nothing. Don't worry about it. Don't let me rain on your parade and stop you two from hanging out."
"If you say so. You know; you can always tell me if something is bothering you."
"Yeah, I know. I'll be done in about two hours, so I'll see you at home."
"Ok."
When she came back, she found him on the couch watching TV. She went to go get changed before joining him. He sat her on his lap and latched onto her neck. But he stopped right after starting.
"Alright, what's wrong?"
"Nothing. Why?"
"You've been acting weird since I got here. And just now, you weren't...how should I put this...responsive like you normally are. Did I do something wrong?"
"No, not at all. I guess I just feel a little sluggish most of the time. I also feel like throwing up sometimes, and there are the occasional headaches but other than that, I'm fine. I guess it's from all the work I need to do."
"Is that it?"
"Pretty much."
"Why didn't you say so? You had me worried, you know."
"My bad. Can we just cuddle?"
"Sure. Maybe you should take a break, for a while before you get worse."
"Yeah. I guess I'll take the rest of the week off."
Later...
"What are you doing up so late? It's almost midnight," Takumi said.
"Having a late-night snack, duh."
"Ice cream at this time. Are you serious?"
"Well, you can clearly see that I'm eating it, so damn right I'm serious."
"Are you ok?"
"Yeah. Why?"
"You've been eating a lot these days."
"There's nothing new about it."
"I'm more concerned about the fact that you're eating more food than usual. It's as if you're eating for five, and yet you still have room left for a late-night snack afterwards."
"Yeah well, my sleeping pattern has been off-balance lately, so it's only natural that my eating habits will change too. And geez, I can't help being hungry all the time."
"I think you should cut back on the food a little. At this rate, you'll end up being the biggest person I know." He teased, poking her belly.
"You're such a dick."
"But you still love this dick."
"Are you serious right now? Tell me, does it look like I'm in the mood for any of your crap?"
"Whoa, it was just a joke."
"Don't joke like that. Some jokes are funny, right? And others are just not ok. Guess which category yours falls into."
"Geez, what's with the bad mood?"
"I was here minding my own business. And then you come here complaining I'm eating too much and gaining weight and your bad jokes about dicks. You know what, let me not be a bitch about this and just go back to sleep. I'm done eating anyway if that makes you happy."
She was about to leave, but he pulled her back to him with his arms around her.
"Why are you so upset?"
"I'm not."
"You are, and I'm not letting go until you tell me why. And when I say why, I mean the real reason because when I make jokes like this, you never take them so seriously."
"I guess the fatigue is finally starting to get to me."
"It's ok. Good thing you took the rest of the week off. C'mon, let's go back to bed."
"You go on ahead; I need to use the bathroom."
After a few minutes, she came back.
"Were you crying?"
"No."
She lay next to him with her back to him. He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her cheek.
"I'm sorry; I didn't mean to upset you."
She turned, buried her face in the crook of his neck and cried some more until she fell asleep.
