The Stomp from earlier was actually so powerful that it had cracked the stage! Nidoking was still stuck! Just as Tyranitar was about to hit Vioarr, a flash of yellow light flew down and struck both of them!

Whatever had happened, no one in the Gym could know as a huge black cloud of smoke and dust had arisen when Tyranitar hit the ground. Coughing and waving their arms to fight off the assaulting smoke, everyone was trying to get a better view of the outcome.
"WHAT!? What happened!?" When the dust finally settled, Evans was shocked at the sight!
He thought that with [Giga Impact (M)] plus the acceleration that was applied to Tyranitar thanks to the help of gravity, Nidoking was sure to be KOed! So then, why was it that it was his Tyranitar on the ground and the Nidoking seemed perfectly fine!?
"Hehe. Looks like you're a little confused so let me explain what happened. If we did not do anything, that strategy of yours might have hurt my brother a lot. Who knows, he might even have fainted from that one attack. Afterall, no matter how strong Vioarr is, that move of yours was simply too lethal! Sadly for you, we did not do nothing! Evans had his mouth hanging wide open at the young boys ingenious plan. In fact, everyone in the stands were gob smacked shocked that such a crazy plan had actually worked! In such a high paced battle, the difference between a couple of seconds could decide which pokemon would faint and which one would stand victorious.
The problem was not that the plan was too unbelievable, it was that the young trainer was the unbelievable one! A child of 7-8 years old had out witted a veteran trainer! When their shock finally settled in their bones, all the reporters burst out in a frenzy taking out their cameras and flashing their lights at this huge scoop!
Leon could only shake his head at Evans since he too had underestimated his student when they fought last year. Sure Jax's pokemons were strong and had powerful moves but the truly scary thing about them was their trainer! Using his brilliant brain, Jax thought up plans that no trainers before him had even considered!
If you judge Jax just based on his age and maybe lack of experience, the only outcome waiting for you would be defeat! After his initial shock, Evans returned to his cool and collected attitude and gave a round of applause to the young boy who truly deserved it. If before he only saw a brat trying to play trainer, now, he fully saw a trainer who was trying to play a brat!
Clap, clap, clap. "Well done! From the bottom of my heart, I congratulate you. Although only using a Thunderbolt might not seem like much, in that kind of situation where a single second mattered between defeat and victory, you kept your calm, analyzed the situation, and did not hesitate to execute it. "This guy was actually my starter and as such, has been with me for the longest and is my strongest. If you beat him, I'll throw in an extra prize whether you win or lose this whole match." Saying so, the ball, in midair, let out a light that just kept getting bigger and longer as the time went on.
When the little light show ended, Jax craned his head way, way, wayyy up! The huge Rock Snake pokemon was simply way too long, reaching a massive length of 15 meters! 'My god! What a giant Onix! And why are the boulders not the usually grey color? It…It's gold!?'
"Haha! I see that you realized the difference between my Onix and the others! Yes, meet Goldy, my golden Onix! You might be wondering if it's a shiny and to that, I will have to proudly say no. If it was only a shiny, Onix would not have been as powerful as it is today. When I first found him, the little guy was actually only 3 meters! A normal Onix would have already been 8 or even 9 meters long! For whatever reason, Goldy had a very peculiar diet and would only eat gold nuggets…my living expenses! If it wasn't for Devon Corps' president, Mr. Stone, seeing my potential and hiring me as their Gym leader, I may have been sleeping out on the streets! Now, come! Looking at Vioarr, Jax still saw that his pokemon was blazing with fighting energy. Knowing that his good brother was still itching to fight, Jax made a sentimental choice to not recall him. And since Vioarr was not recalled, [Protect (M)+Endure (M)] along with the [Focus Energy (M)] was still in effect. Sadly, the aftershock had long destroyed the other poke dolls that the [Double Team (M)+Substitute (M)] had created.
"Vioarr, Trapezoid 1. Let's see how agile this hunk of dirt is." Hearing his brother, Vioarr ran around the field throwing out a [Toxic Spikes (M)+Venom Drench (M)] all around the field. Even if the Onix was fast, which they doubted, with its huge size, it had to slide over all of those things one way or another.

After [Stealth Rock (M)], Goldy used [Rock Polish (M)] raising his speed to +6, [Curse (M)] raising his ATK and DEF to +6 while not dropping SPD since Curse was at master rank, [Screech (M)] to lower Vioarr's DEF to -6, and a [Defense Curl (M)] that no longer raised his DEF but boosted one of his attacks, Goldy was finally ready to start the battle!
