Jim POV

"Speak fast," I commanded as I picked up my phone on the first ring.

"Jim, it's Troy."

The voice was quiet, as if trying to not be overheard.

I waited for a second. "You aren't speaking very fast."

"Sorry, I was calling with an update on the girl," Troy continued.

Troy was a warrior from my pack. I had trained him myself before my injuries, and I knew that he was one of the best. Years ago, when we started to plan to overthrow Avondale, I had planted him in one of the smaller packs as one of the Betas.

The other packs had lied about their Betas, why couldn't we?

And it was all in preparation for this moment.

Troy was finally picked to take part in the training session, and what a perfect year for it. Not only would I get intel on Avondale and the training session, but I would also get intel on Clare.

It was as if the Moon Goddess was trying to set me up for success.
