章 5: Chapter 5
When I go out to the street I begin to observe the vendors that are in the area, I have many doubts about what is happening.
So I approach one of the vendors and only see that he display 5 Fluff (Price: 6) and 5 Clover (10) and it is asking for a price 10 times its value, Is there anyone who can buy at this price?
In another stall nearby there seems to be a commotion so I go to observe, they are selling 2 Red Herb (18), and 1 Green Herb (10), why did you put a stall if you only bring those things and he is asking 5000 for 3 herbs!? And he already sold them!?
Not believing what I was seeing, I set out to visit more stalls...
There are many things that I never saw in the game, or at least the memories I have about the game, there are many basic products mainly food, although it also confuses me a bit when I see items that drop high level monsters being sold as garbage, the rest of useful things was scarce, now I understand why they bought all the materials several times its price.

Although I wonder where they get the armor that some guards are wearing, so far I haven't found anything that works as armor so I have to assume that they are not available or I have to buy them in specific places or with certain privileges
For weapons the situation is the same only swords (ATK: 25) and knives (ATK: 17), I can't find any other weapon besides those. Although apparently they are buying minerals at high prices 10 times its original price, I am somewhat tempted to sell it, but it's better to save them for when you can use them and that I am only a level 10, I will not be able to do anything in case attract unwanted attention.
Exploring a bit more I haven't seen many people with high levels, the highest level I saw was Herman in the store, although he was only level 99, from then on the highest level I've seen was 35 so apart from lack of resources they also have low levels.
Even so I need to prepare myself and thanks to memories that I was able to obtain, I remembered a function of the game, Mercenaries. So I'm going to hire a mercenary, I don't need them to be strong, I just want them to help me obtain common knowledge. I don't think that the world is working the same as in the game, well what can I expect one is a video game another is real life, there is no way that the real world works like a game.
Even if there are risks is better to see how the mercenary system works, if in the end it does not work, at least I tried and I will lose my curiosity about it, so I think that is better to hire a mercenary now and gradually unravel the secrets that this world hides, not to mention that I will try to hire a beautiful mercenary, I just hope my appearance doesn't cause me problems, at least I think I'm not ugly since no one has stared at me much or disrespected me.
I look around and see a guard standing near the square so I approach him and ask him about the place where the mercenary guild is located. Again he responds respectfully and tells me the location.
So my next destination is located aside of the Chivalry in the northwest of the city. I thought that I would have problems to enter the section of the nobles but it was not like that, they must have very good security or something.
Strangely, the mercenary guild is a somewhat small building. When I enter I see a small reception and a man behind it, when I approach without saying anything, he takes out a book and gives it to me.
In the book he describes the contract that I will make with the mercenaries...

Mercenaries in this world are indebted people, who, unable to pay, are sold and forced to work. The salary I pay them is practically to pay their debt

I kind of understand how those characters in the stories that I read in the past feel, the power that comes from the fact that you buy a person's life, being able to control them and make them obey all your orders.
It is hard to imagine how you are a normal student or office worker and in the next moment already have a life in your hands. But hey who am I to go against tradition? I have to buy some women in debt and make a harem, as tradition dictates, then a hero/noble/young master will arrive and say that what I do is wrong or that he likes my women and wants to get them, I want to see what it feels like to have that happen to me at least I won't be too bored if that happens.
After the description of the contract an rules come a short description of the mercenaries, what skills they have, what did they do to end up here, things like that. There is not much to choose from the list and I don't understand, practically the men who are here will abandon you and/or steal you at critical moments.
As described in the book, they are the worst scum you can imagine, in addition to the fact that their prices are ridiculously expensive, practically with the money you would use to hire one of them for a few days I can buy a woman directly.
