"For the first form of nirvana, the chances of life and death, success and failure, are 50-50. Each transformation makes the challenge more intense."

The third body was explaining that even if there was a forbidden technique capable of cutting through a perfect body, it wouldn't guarantee success in the next nirvana realm. 

The path of cultivation was arduous—without progress, there was regression. 

And if one regressed, death was inevitable.
