Sophie and Ilaria

The Palace - 9 PM

Sophie looked at the dress in the long mirror. Black with silver embroidery, the dress was beautiful, but a little too tight.

Of every article of clothing Gabriella owned for when she shifted into a human—which never happened according to her—this was one of the dresses that fit best.

Gabriella sat behind her sipping martinis in a plush beige swivel chair, one leg draped over the armrest. Her bright brown eyes had been watching Sophie try on her clothes for the last hour.

Sophie looked at the blonde wolf’s reflection and rolled her eyes. Sophie wasn’t shy, but this was getting ridiculous.

Ilaria was sitting beside Sophie observing the dress too. She exchanged a look with the wolf.

Sophie felt more comfortable being able to see Ilaria. That’s the way it had been their entire lives after all. She had never had a reason to conceal the wolf before coming to the Nation.
