章 4: I Am The Imperial Throne

Gavryll began to sanction a search in the nobles' estates. Even each of the servants that served the noble houses was placed under thorough scrutiny.

They were sent to questioning and dispute. Their family backgrounds and personal profile had been analyzed as well. The capital city where most nobles lived was swarmed with many bees to spread the news. It was a predicament in the city.

The Imperial Palace became stringent and guarded the estates of the nobles for several days. They seek permission to even go outside their dwellings and get back inside, that was how rigorous Gavryll ran the scrutiny of everyone.

The people started to fear what was occurring, it seemed to them that the Imperial Palace blindfolded them to insulate what really transpired within the Imperial throne. But some theories just happen to hit the right verification coincidentally.

"I concluded that this involved the Empress…"

"Can that be true? They have not found her yet, have they?"

"Judging from what they've been, certainly, yes."

"It must be the fault of that commoner consort…she had been scheming to take the throne from the Empress…"

"We may as well blame the empress than the consort… If only she had not been driven by her emotions, do you think this would occur?"

"Seriously, she did cause bigger distress within this extent, now that she had become the empress she thought she could do everything as she pleased…"

"I knew it all along, the great Emperor's daughter couldn't reach him. The Emperor may have never been wrong but one, his belief that his daughter could surpass him…"

It was not only about rubbing the right wound that the people have been doing, they also were scrutinizing their ruler. Fair enough, it became a greater upheaval.

"Your Majesty…!"

Gavryll's eyes glanced to where the voice had come from. As he had thought, General Nigel was responsible for his calling.

"What is it, Nigel?"

Odette's hands were wrapped around his chest, she stood behind his seat, her body bent and head docked to reach his shoulder. She had a sinister snicker that was on her smile, this is precisely what she wanted. Everything is under her control.

"Just as you presumed, the Prime Minister was not at home. His servants had asserted that it lord had not returned home for more than a month. At first, the Prime Minister would leave his dwelling three times within a week, this transpired within a month before he completely disappeared."

Gavryll's eyes lit skeptically. He was wary, he guessed that maybe Odette's assumption was correct all along.

"It seems to me that my wife's assumption has been precise, then, we shall pay him a visit in one of the lands he occupies." He snickered.

Hera's eyes watched as Amraphel prepared for her, he was quiet, unlike the other days when he'd talk about what is he preparing, what's it good for, or what's been stirring in the Palace. This time, Hera observed Amraphel was reserved, similarly to how he was back in the day. She thought that something might be going on.

"You seemed quiet today, Amraphel. Mind telling me the details why…"

Amraphel did not answer, it was as if he never heard her at all. Moments later, Amraphel started to get clumsy, for once in her life Hera have seen Amraphel waver for the first time.

She stood up and approached him, the floors of the shabby niche creaked as she gently strode on them. Her hands tapped her shoulders, and immediately, he responded with a reflex. His hand swung atop his head as it pointed at her. Hera was surprised, as soon as he realized what he placed himself into, Amraphel retracted and vied to calm himself.

"Is…something the matter, Amraphel?" she worried inquired.

"Was it…perspicuous?"

His hand reached to his nape and gauchely did he scratched them.

"Well, you do seem distressed…"

Amraphel sighed, "The Emperor must have been solicitous of when he'll find you. He searched every estate each of the nobles have, which encompasses mine. I reckon that Odette had something to do with this."

Hera's eyes looked at him, eagerness lit on the corner of her apertures. "Amraphel, take me home."

Astounded, Amraphel's eyes averted toward her. "Home…?"

"Indeed. Take me home, Amraphel. To the Palace."

"What's with this sudden nonsense, Hera? If you go there, do you not think they will not execute you?"

"There will be a feasible plausibility of my execution, but that plausibility is just a plausibility, am I not right?"

Amraphel had no words to speak, what could she even be thinking?

"Gavryll's lineage was not an Imperial family. I thought that even if I'd given him all the sufficient power of the Emperor, he still isn't powerful enough because he was not from the Imperial family."

"What are you aspiring to suggest?"

"Gavryll was not planning to execute me, after all. He wanted to keep me near where I can guarantee their reign. For as long as the Imperial family does not guarantee his wishes, his benefits will be found nowhere. As long as I live and as long as my kin does, I am on the Imperial Throne."

Amraphel's eyes lit with hope. Indeed, how could he overlook this certain article from the Imperial Constitution? He chuckled. His mind must have skipped this one salubrious detail.

Article 57 Zemirius Clause H states this case. The Imperial family is the Imperial throne was what it suggests. This article was made over a couple of hundred and fifty years ago by the first Emperor of Zemira, Marilla, a woman.

Emperor Marilla was a widow who founded Zemira within the midst of her forty years of living. After Zemira stood, she reigned and made the Imperial laws and constitutional rights which stand until now in Hera's reign.

The Imperial Throne is a brute force that can do as it pleases without anyone's sanction or any formal agreement such as an oath. But the congregation, the nobles, and those that fall under the Imperial throne's feet are expected to get authorization from the Imperial throne to do as they will.

With the help of this clause, Hera thought that she still has hope of taking the throne back. Her resolve was to defend herself, to be no longer pusillanimous, for once, she learned that as the true proprietor of the Imperial throne, she should defend what's hers.

Four years and eleven months enthroned, Hera did not think of a day that would come to this. A day when her husband would betray her for the sake of a lowly commoner. But now that it has happened, she regretted this marriage. She could've saved them from loving him and she would've avoided being used.

"I'm done being used all the time, Amraphel…"

Amraphel snickered, his eyes gleefully smiling with pride as he looked at her countenance that depicted such determination within the abyss of her eyeballs.

"I do love the way you say things, Hera…"
