Beside me, Gael softly chuckles, but I keep my eyes on the new girl before me, waiting for her to meet my stare.

And when she does look up, I feel the pit in my stomach burn. It's a feeling I've been getting whenever she's around. I hate it, and yet it's also kind of addicting. It's the kind of hit I don't get in drugs or weed or alcohol. But it doesn't linger long.
