John's POV

Rich was getting awfully bold in his old age. He might only be a year older than John, but maybe he was already going senile. It was the only explanation for his absolutely ridiculous prayer.

John dug into his own steak, using the opportunity to study Rhiannon's cleavage.

F*ck, she looked incredible.

It seemed like every outfit she wore was chosen specifically to make him lose focus on anything but her. She had been right, it would have been suspicious if they had ridden together, but he felt like if he'd gotten to appreciate her properly before supper, he wouldn't have been so distracted.

"Is your food any good?" he asked her. That was something someone might say in casual conversation.

"Yeah, it's pretty good," she shrugged. "But you know what sounds really good? A little bit of ice cream."

Such an innocent statement.
