Odin had never dealt with this kind of situation, Hela had never used her powers in one of them.

So it was an assumption that it would work out, but it was better than nothing.

But in reality they had some points in their favor.

Hela was extremely cooperative and would accept that there was some study into how her power worked.

There was a powerful Valkyrie possessing ancient knowledge regarding healing processes.

Last but not least, Odin himself was capable of healing.
