[Tessia Eralith POV]
Today was just the first day in the school year, so there was no class, it was time for students to get to know the school and walk around to learn all the basics possible. But I couldn't believe that on that first day, there was already a fight first thing in the morning, and worse, Arthur and Luz were involved in it.
"That was a shock...." I spoke quietly as I sat at my desk in the Student Council office.
This room was in the same academy building that my mentor Cynthia Goodsky's room was in. It was made this way so that we could always be close to her when there was a problem and we needed to contact her as soon as possible. It was also in this building that there was another group that was still being formed, the name is Disciplinary Committee.
Apparently this committee would do similar jobs to the Student Council, but instead of filling out paperwork and trying to work things out in conversation, they would be aggressive and make risky decisions when necessary. We could say it's the same idea as a good guard and a bad guard in an interrogation room.
Clive was against this idea, saying that our group could do that job too, but Grandma Cynthia said that if that were the case, the Student Council would have a lot of trouble getting things done, and that unlike us, the committee would only be formed by people with the same sense of morality that she has, with the function of disciplining students who didn't follow the rules or who showed aggression and discrimination between races. It doesn't matter if the student is a famous noble or not, this committee would act as if everyone was in the same boat.
This didn't sit well with Jarrod, the treasurer of the council, but we had no say in the fact that our sense of morals was different from Goodsky's. And that some of us would be tame with famous noble students, instead of really doing the work.
"The way Clive acted with Luz... As if he was superior and had all right... Like he is my vice president... but still, on top of that he didn't let me speak, as if my words were obvious to him... As if I was so easy to read that he actually forget that I had and NEED to say a thing at least. Really, our group wouldn't serve those functions that Grandma Cynthia wants." I thought, looking now at the paperwork in front of me, were the witnesses written about the fight that took place this morning. Everyone was saying very similar things.
"A trio of human students went to help a dwarf student who was going to be attacked outside of the dueling system."
"One of the human students faced the attacker without using mana"
"One of the human students used earth magic to keep the dwarf out of harm's way."
With so many similarities, it was impossible for anyone to disprove the fact that this actually happened. After all, there were eight people who were there if I don't count Arthur, Luz, the attacker, the dwarf and the student with glasses who was with them.
A few hours passed, and at the moment I was having a small meeting with the my group at the head table. It was just to reorganize some thoughts, so that tomorrow, at our meeting with the new committee that would be formed, we would already have comments prepared.
Someone seemed to knock on the front door and Lilia got up to see who it was, after all, she was our secretary. We couldn't see her from the way the rooms were located, but we could hear her squeal in surprise.
"L-lilia?!" Jarrod, our treasurer, exclaimed as he stood up to see what had happened, we ended up following him.
Luckily, it didn't seem like a serious situation, but even so, my eyes widened seeing the scene. Lilia was in front of the open door and what had made her scream out of nowhere, was seeing that same boy with black hair and light eyes, he looked like he was carrying a tray.
"Geez, Lily. Did you really scream at the sight of me? I thought I taught you better than that." Luz said laughing, it seemed that he didn't realize that it wasn't just Lilia who was seeing him there.
"Y-You arrived while we were in a meeting! And worse, it was when we were talking about the incident that happened in the morning. Seriously, of course I was going to freak out, it's like we summoned you out of nowhere!!!" Lilia said, hitting him a little on the shoulder.
"Woah. Sorry, I may be super skilled, but I'm not a seer." Luz said smiling at her.
"Hm.. What are you doing here? It's already quite late at evening..." Clive spoke, suspecting something was wrong, but I could feel that he was holding back anger at the green ice that was in his hand before. Luckily, Lilia and I were close, so we used our magic to melt the ice as soon as we could.
"Oh, no big deal. Just an apology followed by..." Luz took the lid off the tray and I was even surprised.
"Some sweets. Like Lilia and Tessia, I know other people who are already studying around here, and one of those people is sick of cupcakes, so I already had several that I made in advance... I thought to myself 'maybe deliver some of this isn't a bad idea.' So here I am." He said still smiling, for a few seconds I thought why he suddenly stopped using nicknames, but then I realized it was because he was talking to Clive.
"Oh! How nice, it's really nice of you to sacrifice some of those cupcakes for us, thanks." Fable, our PR director, said with that big smile of his as he carefully picked up the tray.
"Hmmm... I still haven't bought this idea, can someone check if it's poisoned?" Clive said to us as he faced the boy I consider my brother.
"Heh?! Why did you say that?" Lilia said, confused.
"Is there a problem, Clive?" I also asked super confused.
"Well, I just think it's impossible for someone to give away things like that without any pretext, especially someone like him." He kept staring Luz.
"... Like me? What are you talking about?" Luz asked, tilting his head a little to the side.
"During the afternoon, I gathered some information, a commoner within our school... How stupid... I don't know how you got in here, but you will never approach the nobility. Why don't you just get out of here while we dump that bribe you delivered?" Clive replied, I was even more confused, where was he getting so much stupid logic from? It even paralyzed me.
"What?!? Is that a bribe?" Flabe said with his mouth full, he was already eating one of the cupcakes.
"Of course it's a bribe, after all he's delivering this to us, at a time of evening, and on the same day he caused trouble." Clive was talking, and I was still trying to understand the stupid logic he was having.
"I'm sorry, but did you research it correctly?" Luz asked, with a smile I could only describe as insane.
"What are you implying? And why didn't you get out of here already?" Clive said trying to intimidate, but as expected from my big brother, it didn't work.
"Firstly, you said that I will never approach the nobility... Should I remind you that I literally live on Lilia's family estate and am known to Tessia?" Luz said, with the smile still plastered on his face, but his voice showing irritation.
"And second, in theory, I'm a noble too, apparently you only looked at reports from the Kingdom of Sapin, but you didn't look at those from the Kingdom of Elenoir." Luz said showing the golden medal he received before he could go back to Sapin, seeing that made me have some nostalgic memories of the party.
". . ." Clive was silent as he looked at the medal and then looked at me and Lilia.
". . . this is fabricated, and I will not believe such stupidity." He spoke in a monotone.
"Uh... Clive... He's not lying." I said to see if he woke up from the fantasy world he was living there.
".... What?" he looked at me with a neutral face.
"Luz is an acquaintance of mine, in fact he and I are so close that I even consider him my brother. And the medal is real, he is the first human to have an elven title..." I said it slowly to see if he understood.
Jarrod and Fable were wide-eyed to hear this information coming out of my mouth, Lilia put her hand on her cheek, pretending to be surprised, but her face was the complete opposite. Apparently Luz had told her about me before, but why hadn't she told me about knowing Luz? Maybe they'd promised not to make comments like that and wait for everyone to be there in person?
"Oh... Oh my god.. How crazy...." Lilia was saying monotonously now as she slowly walked out of the room, and closed the door with Luz being outside with her.
"Wait... So it was him...? BITCH!!!" Jarrod exclaimed, heading to his office.
"Eh?!?" I looked confused in Jarrod's direction, not understanding what was happening, I looked at Clive, and he was standing like a statue, still processing what I said.
"Wow, a single boy destabilized us in less than 1 day?... HOW AMAZING! Tessia, tell me, is he the type who knows how to speak very well in public?" Fable said handing me one of the cupcakes from that tray and I just nodded in agreement.
"Great! I'll want to talk to him. Picking up new strategies is never a bad thing." Fable said, as he walked back to his office.
It was just me and Clive there, I went to the tray that had the cupcakes, took one, and put it in Clive's mouth, still gaping, he still couldn't believe what happened there. I didn't say anything else, I just went to my office too.

[Cynthia Goodsky POV]
I was filling out some paperwork in my office, it was related to the new group I was creating, the Disciplinary Committee, or just DC for short. Most of the students I wanted on this committee had already agreed to participate in advance last year. I was just making adjustments, as I was thinking of calling a few more students at the last minute.
Among the participants were upperclass students, Claire Bladeheart, Curtis Glayder, Kai Crestless and Theodore Maxwell. But there were also underclass students like Feyrith Ivsaar III, Doradrea Oreguard and Kathyln Glayder. Officially, there were five humans, an elf and a dwarf, however, I felt that three more spots were possible to be filled among the new faces.
I got up from my chair, grabbed a briefcase and walked out of my office. I was looking around as I went down the stairs, since my room was on the top floor of the building, but when I got to the student council floor, I ended up seeing something that surprised me.
In the main hall of the floor were Luz Leywin and Lilia Helstea. The boy was leaning with his back to the wall as the girl talked to him, her cheeks were clearly red. The boy noticed my presence and turned to face me, waving, Miss Helstea noticed right after I was there, getting even redder in the cheeks.
"Director Goodsky!? W-What are you doing at this hour? Want some help?" Lilia Helstea said in a trembling voice.
"Oho... I'm the one who should ask you guys that, shouldn't I?" I asked with a raised eyebrow and a mischievous smile on my face, again the boy was the only one of the two who didn't seem bothered by the way I insinuated something.
"No big deal, Cynthia. There was a problem involving the dueling system today, I was in the middle... So I decided to come here to apologize. Actually... I already made the apology, now I'm just talking to Lily." Luz Leywin said, as if it were something common.
"Oh, I heard that, things blow through this school like the wind... But wait...Lily?" I smirked at the student council secretary, who was now hiding her face with both hands.
"Okay, but still, I think this is lucky. I was heading to the underclass students' dorm to meet you and your brother." I commented looking at the boy.
"Anything else involving us? What would it be? Are you going to invite us to the committee?" His questions surprised me, after all, the committee was something only the student council knew about.
It even seemed that he read my mind, because he took my doubt. "Curtis was at my sister's birthday last year, and he commented on this Committee. Have you decided what the official name would be?"
"It will be called the Disciplinary Committee. Tomorrow is the day they will officially present themselves to the school and also when I will release to all members, new rooms in this building, since where we are is a place just for me, for the student council, and to the disciplinary committee. And yes.. I was going to ask you to join it. What do you think?" I said with a little laugh.
"I'd love to, but I'd like access to the ENTIRE academy library and permission to take classes from an upperclass student."
"Luz!? Are you really crazy? Are you really making such an offer—?" Before Lilia Helstea could finish speaking, I was nodding in agreement.
"Of course, and I bet your brother will want things like that in return too, won't he?" the girl was in shock that I had accepted the boy's idea.
"Hehe. There are a lot of things you don't know about us, but yes, you're right about that, Cynthia." Luz Leywin said, heading towards me.
"Fine. Take the package that has your name on it." I said opening the briefcase in my hand, revealing packages containing committee uniforms, along with some accessories.
The Leywin boy took the package with his name on it and laughed. "Oh, so you're not just going to call Arthur, are you going to call Elijah too?" He said after seeing the name that was on the other two packages.
"Yes, Arthur for being as prodigious as you are, and Elijah for he is considered a representative of Darv. Currently on the committee, we only have one other dwarf, so that way it doesn't look too weird, don't you think?" I said and he nodded in agreement.
"Considering that this committee is supposed to kick the ass of anyone who causes problems, no matter what race they are, it's really a good idea to have representatives of all three races, at least it doesn't end up being considered a racist group." He said, but soon the girl slapped him on the back of the head.
"Don't use that language!? My god, I feel like Aunt Alice would be pulling your ears for a whole week if she saw this scene." Lilia Helstea commented and I giggled a little, reminding me of when their mother kept tugging on Arthur's ear whenever he wasn't formal with me.
"Okay, with that out of the way, I'll go to the dorms to break the news to the boys. Do you want to accompany me, it's already night, you shouldn't even be here at this hour." I was talking to Luz, who simply accepted the idea.
He says goodbye to the daughter of the Helstea and then we went together to the dormitory building. There wasn't much conversation, just a few simple comments about how our days were and how when I talked to him, I felt like I was talking to Virion. He snapped doing an almost perfect imitation of that old man calling me "Old Witch!" making us laugh for nothing.
Arriving at the dorms, we parted ways, he wanted to go straight to bed instead of seeing the other two's reaction to being invited to the committee. Luz warned me that Arthur already knew about the existence of this new group, while Elijah had no idea of this possibility, and that for Elijah to accept it for sure, I should say that there was a high chance of him getting girlfriends by joining the committee.
I was confused by that comment, but Luz just had to answer me, that Elijah is a thirsty for women, that I understood everything and I've already started to plan a malefic plan of what words to use so that Darv's representative doesn't refuse the invitation. Arriving in room number 394, I gave a small knock on the door, already starting to hear voices on the other side.
"—Maybe our neighbors are just saying hello?" I heard a voice approaching the door.
The owner of the voice opened the door for me, it was Elijah Knight. "Who is..." He was stunned to see it was me, it was even a little comical.
After a few seconds, Arthur Leywin appeared there too, probably worried about his roommate who was frozen in the same position by surprise, I gave them a slight smile. "Good Evening, Arthur, Elijah. May I come in?"
"D-D-Director Goodsky! I-It's an honor to see you again." Elijah gave a forceful bow that looked almost comedic, when he lifted his head back up, he made this too quickly, almost dropping his glasses in the process. This made me smile a little, this was really a funny way to react, but I needed to be polite in front of them.
"Please come in, Director Goodsky. Elijah, stop blocking the dooway." Arthur pulled out the chair from a desk, motioning for me to take a seat on the sofa there.
"I told to call me 'Cynthia'." I walked to the sofa, taking a seat on it.
"I don't think it would be wise of a twelve-year-old with no background to be on a first-name basis with the director of the most prestigious academy in this continent." He chuckled as he took a seat on his chair, while I sat cross-legged on the couch.
I noticed his bond there in the couch on my side. For some reason, it was now white like snow, what made me ask what was going on, since the last time I saw it, it was a black mana beast. "My... Your bond has changed a lot in appearance since the last time we met. Intriguing." I tried to hold the mana beast, but it hopped out of my reach and nestled itself on Arthur's head.
"Haha, as shy as before, I see." I looked more at it, but after, I returned my gaze to him. "Hmmmm... So, how is my precious Quadra-Elemental student doing?"
"Fine, just waiting to see my classes tomorrow." He said.
"Talking about classes. I wanted you to know... That, because of you genius type, I will give to you full access to advanced books and some upperclasses. Since you decided to be a Scholar Mage..." I said with a smile in my face.
"... Okay, what's the catch this time, Old Witch? This is to good to dont have some backslash on me." I laught in my mind when he used the same expression Luz used before, they really are brothers.
"Arthur, I'm heartbroken! I only wanted to do this for your growth!" I placed a hand on top of my heart, acting as if genuinely offended.
"Art! You're being rude to the director!" Elijah's voice was described in a single word... 'Panic'. While this was happen, Arthur smiled at me, waiting silently for my answer.
I sighed. "Very well. I really have one favor that I want you to do for having this extra things."
"Please, don't say that you want me to be in the Student Council." he shook his head.
"Don't worry, I wouldn't leave you in the same group as the elven princess. Even if you are known, I know very well that your presence there would make her not focus on the tasks." I said, and soon I saw his cheeks turn extremely red.
I quickly replied, as if reading his mind. "She told me how special you were and that you were a person she admired. Even though I'm her mentor, her goal is to at least reach the same level as you, or a level that you can look up for her and not see her as weak."
Arthur blushed even more as he looked away and spoke. "Does she... Does she really use me as the highest motivation?..."
"Yes, and I think she'll love it if you get closer to her." I said with a smile when I saw his reaction.
"Closer? But you said that you're not here to invite me to the Student Council." he asked confused.
"I want you... No... I want you and your friend, Elijah, to join a committee that I'm doing, this group will debut tomorrow and will have the function of solving problems, toxic and racist discussions, and things that level, directly. Let's just say... They're a kind of Guard, who can discipline anyone on the spot, if there's enough evidence. I know Elijah will probably accept without a second thought, but for you, Arthur. The reward would be those extra things I mentioned before." I was saying that, looking at both of them, Arthur in front of me and Elijah standing to the side.
Elijah started to stutter trying to find the right words, but ended up just bowing comically again, as if it was an honor for that request. On the other hand, Arthur had a thoughtful face.
"And what does that have to do with getting closer to Tessia?" Arthur asked again.
"It's because, obviously, both the Student Council and the Disciplinary Committee, will have some meetings together, to solve common problems, besides, the rooms that you will have, along with the committee's office, are in the building where my office and where Student Council members stay." I answered him.
"I see…" He was still very thoughtful, while Elijah was still in a position of thanks, causing me to give a small laugh.
"I think that to speed up your decision I should speak up... Your brother has also been selected to join the committee, and he has already accepted." I said, making Arthur nod in agreement as he understood the situation.
"Fine, I'll accept, but since I'll have Upperclass and Underclass subjects.... I want to have one more small advantage in terms of schedules." He raised a very important point, after all it would be long hours of class.
"You can talk." I made a gesture with my hand for him to continue.
"I want permission to be late to class by no more than 15 minutes." He asked and I agreed, it wasn't such a big deal, if I think that he would be accepting being in a disciplinary group and in exchange not having much free time.
"Great. So, do we start tomorrow?" He asked just to get confirmation.
"Yes." I opened the briefcase, showing them the packages that held their uniforms and accessories. "Tomorrow morning, you will have a meeting with the other members of the disciplinary committee. And after that, you will have to go to the auditorium to make official the existence of this new group. So I recommend that you wake up very early. In total, counting you, we have ten members, five representing the humans, two representing the elves, two representing the dwarves and one representing the elements~" I spoke the last parts looking straight into their eyes.
Elijah seemed to smile as he realized that he wouldn't be the only dwarf representative there, while Arthur chuckled at me having considered him an elemental representative and not a representative of any race. Arthur got up and walked over to give me a handshake.
"Will we meet you there?" He said.
I stood up, accepting the handshake. "There is a chance, but maybe not."
I smiled and walked out of their room. Starting to walk back to my office, past the beautiful evening landscape of the campus. I noticed something like an owl approaching me and landing on my shoulder, it was my bond, Avier.
"Any news?" I asked him mentally.
"None, for now the surrounding areas are clean." Avier, my wyvern disguised as an owl, answered me.
"Great and what about the patrol involving the students?" I asked as I walked with him.
"If you're asking about those young boys from the Leywin family. I would say I felt an incredible and terrifying presence coming from them. In the case of the brown haired boy, I think it comes from him and his bond. But in the case of the dark haired boy, I felt like his aura was going to devour me, even as I was flying away. And I think he didn't even notice me, which makes it weirder that his aura gives me that feeling." he said, making me look wide-eyed.
"I only have one thing to say, mistress Cynthia, if they see you as an obstacle, even a tiny one, it will be the end of us." Avier said that leaving my shoulder and flying towards my office window.
"...." I got a cold sweat with those words, I even stopped walking a little, standing under a point of light made by an artifact.
"Will it be the end of me if I'm a thorn in their path?... He's never been that serious with me since he warned me to get off the street when Cadell was in a celebratory parade... Now I'm relieved that at least Luz Leywin talk to me as if I were an old acquaintance." I thought, taking a deep, long breath as I made my way back to my office.
"But... It's a relief to know that mages like the two of them will be a great example for this new generation." Those were my last thoughts before I locked myself in my room.
