-flashback
"Shannon! I've got some wonderful news!" Sabrina excitedly rushed to her room.
Before Shannon was in the family, she and Sabrina lived in a motel.
They've been struggling for money because the rent was too expensive.
Sabrina had been asking Simeon for money to provide for them.
That life has made Shannon covetous.
She had always wanted to be rich.
Like other rich kids she knew.
She is never contented.
After hearing the news, Shannon and Sabrina went over to Simeon's mansion.
Shannon stared in awe when she saw the house.
"Yes. We'll be living there from now on," Sabrina patted her shoulder,
"Seriously?" Shannon turned to her.
Sabrina nodded.
A housekeeper went over to open the gates for them.
'My dream is finally gonna come true' Shannon smiled to herself.
Sabrina introduced Simeon to Shannon as her father.
Surprisingly, Shannon burst into tears.
"Father! How can you abandon us?!" She wept,
"It's okay. I'm here now. I'll make it up to you," Simeon went to hug her.
After a few minutes of talking, a servant announced that Ms. Amanda has arrived.
'Amanda?' Shannon turned.
"She'll be your sister." Simeon smiled,
"But, what if she hates me?" She looked down.
'I don't want a sister! I wanna be the only one. I don't want to share riches with somebody!'
She clutched her dress tightly.
"Don't worry," Simeon reassured.
"Ahem,"
And there she was.
Shannon was stunned.
She has these looks everyone dreamed of.
Silky hair, long curvy lashes, shining blue eyes (Shannon's eye color was brown), body with a perfect shape, a beautiful face, and an athletic look.
Those features made Shannon's jealousy grow.
Apparently, Sabrina too was.
They've never seen Amanda before.
Shannon considered her arch nemesis.
- the welcoming banquet for Shannon
Everyone gasped as they saw Amanda.
"My she looks like a goddess," one of the guests whispered.
Shannon couldn't believe her eyes.
She had applied tons of layers of makeup, just to surpass Amanda's beauty and become the limelight.
But here Amanda was, way more beautiful than her even without makeup.
'How-' Shannon tried her best to stop herself from causing a tantrum.
- in the room
"Mom!" Shannon wailed,
"Don't say a word. You've already caused trouble," Sabrina scolded pacing back and forth,
"I don't understand! Why is she way more pretty than me even without makeup!?" Shannon threw a pillow.
Sabrina sighed.
"I know how you feel. Back in my 20s, Selene was my arch-nemesis. She always had everything I wanted. Wealth, fame, beauty. She had it all. Even the man I wanted,"
Sabrina clenched her fist as she was telling this story.
"The man you wanted, is it dad?" Shannon looked at her,
"Sort of," Sabrina replied cautiously.
She can't possibly tell her she also wanted Alfonso.
