章 33: Claw Back (III)
"Really? That's awfully generous of you guys" I stated innocently as I turned around and held Lang Min in front of me as I intended to use him as a meat shield in case they decided to attack me. While his Quirk no longer affected me, I didn't dare to open my eyes, at least not yet since his eyes were still in a working condition.
"Yes. It is good that you understand, but for it to work, you need to let him go" The man explained as calmly as he could.
"And what about tonight? I have already killed so many of you" I pointed out with a frown on my face as I tilted my head, trying to look confused.
"That's why it's even more important that you let him go" The man retorted, making me frown even harder. Is he trying to buy time, or is Lang Min really that important? According to Ito, Lang Min was not important, but he had already stabbed me in the back, so there was no way I could take anything he said at face value.
Even though my senses were extremely sharp right now, it was simply impossible for me to hear anything beyond 10 or so meters around me with the same clarity as I could do within the range, so it was hard to tell if their reinforcements were already here or not, or if they were preparing some kind of surprise for me.
"And if I don't?" I finally asked, and I heard someone gasp from the side before being met with complete silence. I could practically hear the incredulity on their faces, which was kind of impossible and concerning at the same time.
"You do not want to do that. Trust me on this. He works for the Golden Hand and since you are new to the city, let me tell you something about them. They are one of the biggest gangs in the city. Nobody messes with them and walks away unscathed" The man spoke up condescendingly, trying to emphasize just how dangerous they were.
If this man was telling the truth then Lang Min was not a nobody even if he was just a bottom feeder in the gang. If this Golden Hand was really one of the major gangs in this city, then it wouldn't matter if Lang Min was a bottom feeder or not, they were going to come after me, to make an example of me.
Right now, I am a nobody and it wouldn't look good if a nobody like me came out of nowhere and killed one of their members… They would look weak in front of the other gangs, but can I really let him go? The answer came easily to me… The answer was no. I won't be able to sleep at night peacefully if I let him go.
To be honest, it would have been really easy to make the compromise… Thinking logically, a compromise should have been the best choice, considering everything. Additionally, I was a stranger in this strange city. Ito was not a friend, and neither were any of the staff working at his club.
I might be judging them based on a bad apple, but I didn't want to be betrayed again… I already had enough of them in my short life…
"Then I should make preparations, right?" I asked with a savage grin on my face as I pushed my thumbs into his eye sockets, making him squeal like a pig as he started to thrash. I regretted not killing Rikiya at the party, which led me to escape Deika City and I am not going to repeat the same mistake again based on what ifs and if nots.
The Golden Hand or whatever the fuck they were called came after me, then they should be prepared for a war because I was not going to give up without a fight… I was already a criminal, so I was willing to go all the way to the deep end and if the Golden Hand or whoever came after me along with me to the depths.
I might die in the process, but I am going to fuck them up and if it came to it then I wasn't against turning this country on top of its head…
"Fuck!!" The man who was trying to get me to give up until now cursed in frustration. "You made the wrong fucking choice, kid!" The man snarled and I finally dared to open my eyes again. Just like I was expecting, I was surrounded, but there were only 20 of them. To be honest, I was expecting more, considering he was part of a big gang.
"We shall see" I said with a grin while showing off my sharp teeth as I tossed Lang Min out of my hands. "Not that any of you are going to be alive to see it" I added after a moment as I lunged forward, crushing the rubble under my feet.
Everything around me exploded for the second time, but I could tell that the explosion was a lot smaller this time since I didn't even feel it this time… I burst out of the flames and grabbed the man who had been speaking until now and wrapped my hand around his throat. "Night night" I said and snapped his neck.
"Goto-sama!" A couple of goons screamed in horror. So, he was the one who was responsible for the explosions? I guess I took out the right person then, didn't I? I tossed the corpse away like a piece of trash before taking a deep breath. I breathed out and flames spewed out of my mouth.
I drowned everything around me in flames and considering the screams I heard, I must have caught a couple of them in my flames. I walked out of the flames and found that nobody was around, which was weird, considering I was pretty sure that I wasn't able to get all of them with my flames.
I closed my eyes and started to focus… It was not something I had done before, but I still decided to give it a try. Ah… So, there they were. I grinned as I realized that they were hiding where they found me initially. Since the wall was turned over, it was easy for them to take cover behind the wall.
However, there were only five of them, which meant some of them were able to run away. Thankfully, none of them took Lang Min, who was trying to crawl away from the heat. I peeked over the wall, scaring them, but before any of them could start to beg, I drowned them in flames…
Now that the five of them were dead, I decided to return to Lang Min and pick him up… "It was a pity that some of them managed to escape me, but I still have you, right?" I asked in an amused tone, making him whimper.
"P-Please le-let me go" The man started to beg pathetically.
"Unfortunately, I cannot do that… We are going to have a chat, my friend. A very long and detailed chat" I cooed into his ear, making him tremble in fear. I still needed to learn a lot more about this city and Lang Min was going to help me…
