Third Person POV
Land of Sand, Year 38.
...
...
The events that took place in the south quickly spread to other places as reports began to show the information.
Oonoki was now active in the war against Konoha while reading about the happenings in the south. "Tsk... it seems things are getting more interesting than they appear..." He spoke despite not being fond of what he was reading, such as Minato invading an entire village; he couldn't help but mock the Kazekage.
"That's certainly a shame that will disgrace his life until the end of it... Hahahahaha." Oonoki let out his rare laugh upon seeing this, wondering when they would meet, as he wanted to confront the Lord of Suna.
"Anything, father?" His son entered the tent at that moment as soon as he heard his father laughing, something he could count on his fingers the times he had heard it.
"See for yourself...." He handed the report to Kitsuchi.
"This..." Kitsuchi was stunned by it.
"It seems Konoha will have the advantage for a while in the south against our allies..." Oonoki commented.
"Yes... that's bad because reinforcements helped in the north... but it's about this boy... he can't keep this up..." Kitsuchi remarked, after all, Minato was a risk factor that needed to be eliminated as soon as possible.
"We can't make any moves yet, but we will wait for an opportunity to arise..." Oonoki said as Kitsuchi nodded.
Still in the north, within the Land of Fire itself, on the battlefield between Konoha and Kumo, with multiple camps like in the western war, there was a functional system different from the last.
These camps were not entirely led by their commanders individually and independently; after all, there was a commander above the commanders there, placed by the Hokage himself, who had power over all the camps and gave orders on behalf of the village and the Hokage himself, making decisions much faster than in the western front.
The leader of this grouping was none other than Sakumo Hatake, known as "The White Blade," one of the most powerful ninjas of Konoha at the moment. He had taken his position differently from this one, due to the fact that, since Kumo's attack had already begun, seizing territories from the Land of Fire, they needed a different system to recover all the taken areas, which started to make Kumo begin to retreat, even with the Raikage active.
It was late afternoon as Sakumo himself was reading the latest reports they had received, a bit surprised to hear the news from the left of the Land of Fire, unable to suppress a smile the moment after.
"Anything interesting, sir?" A Jonin beside him, who worked as his assistant, asked, seeing Sakumo's rare smile.
"Just a few interesting things happening in the west. It seems the village has its first war hero. A child of 12 or 13 years old, incredible, isn't it?" Sakumo said as he handed over the scroll that had also arrived for him, which the Jonin opened, raising an eyebrow as he read.
"This is unbelievable, sir! The boy... this Minato... it's hard to believe it was him who did this..." The Jonin commented, still processing the events.
"The boy has become a young prodigy, the best of his generation... At just 12 years old, he possesses two S-rank jutsus, has completed numerous S-rank missions, and helped in the rescue of our Damayo. Furthermore, he has done countless missions in ANBU squads, participated in important missions where he obtained the antidote for poisons from Chiyo of Suna to save thousands of ninjas, even before invading Suna as reported."
"That boy has already been helping in the course of the war. He is also known in the west as the ninja who invaded an enemy camp alone and committed a massacre, facing the Jinchuuriki of the Four Tails, the Tsuchikage, and Hanzo the Salamander to the north."
"And not to mention that, according to this report, he had to deal with the Kazekage and Shukaku, so tell me, are you still surprised that the boy did this with such a history?" Sakumo remarked, looking at his subordinate.
"This is... it's astonishing, sir. It's very hard to believe that a boy did all this, but if there are so many proofs, who am I to disagree? But it's incredible... the boy is so young..." The Jonin seemed still conflicted; after all, at 26 years old, he had not come close to the things a boy half his age had already done.
"Don't be like that... there are those who are born with great talent... I mean, soon we will be surpassed like this..." Sakumo commented with a smile. "I will talk to the Hokage. I like this kid. Soon he will be old enough to have a team by the end of this war if it doesn't resolve too much. I will try to put my son with him. I'm sure there's no one better." He remarked, and then Sakumo ended the conversation. "Now you can go."
"See you later, lord commander..." The Jonin said his goodbyes and left the tent. It was getting dark, and he was now free with no tasks, so he decided to relax with his companions.
This Jonin went over to a group of friends who were drinking in a corner of the camp.
"Hey, Ekyr, come here!" His friends called as soon as he was seen.
"Hey, guys?" Ekyr approached and sat down with them. "I think I'll join you today..." He murmured while grabbing a bottle of sake.
"A lot of work with our commander?" His friends asked.
"You know how it is... Yeah, but today was calm. However... you won't believe what I just heard before coming here," Ekyr said as he drank, starting to tell what he had heard. His companions looked at him incredulously.
"You're saying a child did this? Oh, no way, it can't be possible!" One of them, clearly skeptical, exclaimed.
"You said his name is Minato?" Another murmured, thoughtful, before looking at Ekyr again. "I not only heard about him; in fact, I saw that boy in person in the village during an emergency mission... the kid captured spies in the village alone when he wasn't even 10 years old. He fought against a group of Genins and Chuunins on equal footing and won, even being one against multiple. I went to check the situation with the Hokage and saw the boy. He really did that. Because if he did this at less than 10 years, I believe those rumors," that ninja said while everyone fell silent for a moment.
"If you speak the truth, then I see why the world doesn't believe it either," the one who doubted murmured.
"Then so be it! Today we will drink to the hero of Konoha!" Another spoke, while the others smiled.
"Yes, let's drink in honor of this Minato Namikaze!" They said, despite not knowing him, they were cheerful.
And so it was. After this group that night, the rumors began to spread throughout the camp. From group to group, while they did missions here and there, or just chatted, the name Minato was already being mentioned here and to other camps with enthusiasm. After all, in a war, heroes were essential for the morale of the entire army.
"Did you hear about that kid who participated in the Damayo rescue mission!? He did all of that?"
"Yes, the kid is already known for doing extraordinary things, even at such a young age. Some call him a miracle worker..."
"And the most incredible thing is that he never came from any clan, but from an orphanage! But I heard that the Senju family took him in. He even had meetings and training with the late Mikoto-sama herself, can you believe it?"
The gossip continued to spread throughout the camps. Meanwhile, in a tent in one of the camps on that front, a ninja was delivering the report to his commander.
"Here, my lord..." He placed it on the table while the camp leader read.
"Well, this is good, thank you for this..." The commander said.
"Thank you, clan leader," the ninja replied.
"Don't call me that... I'm a commander here." Mazu, Mikoto's father, said as he saw the ninja nodding to leave, but he wanted to talk to him first.
"Before you go... I received some interesting news from the west, have you heard about what happened there?" Mazu asked while the ninja shook his head negatively.
"I see... anyway... you once told me that you saw my daughter with some inappropriate behavior when you visited the camp at the far north of the western border..." Mazu questioned.
"Yeah... She and that Minato Namikaze seemed pretty close, but closer than a relationship between two teammates should be," he replied.
Yes... you're right... Well, he is now becoming quite well-known." The commander simply said. "And I can't stand still now..." He said at the end.
"What do you mean, sir?" The young man asked.
"The way you mentioned that my daughter was close to the boy... I can't let that happen. I can't! As the clan leader, I won't allow my daughter to associate with anyone outside. I've heard very good things about Fugaku Uchiha in recent years; he is strong and considered the best Uchiha ninja of this generation... It's time for me to betroth my daughter to the future clan leader." He decided.
After all, Fugaku was the most talented Uchiha of his time. Mazu needed to think about the future of the clan, and Fugaku had already shown interest in marrying Mikoto. Combining the useful with the pleasant would be the best solution, and he would put an end to any teenage crush his daughter might have before she did something foolish and embarrassed the clan.
"Now you can leave..." Mazu said in the end, and the ninja nodded.
This was the Uchiha who had visited Jiraiya's camp a long time ago while seeing Mikoto and Minato closer than they should have been, and passed that information to his leader; now he was going to meet his team as he exited the tent of the commander and clan leader Mizu Uchiha.
In the following days, it didn't take long for the rumors about Minato, the new hero of Konoha, to spread even to this camp.
One of the students of that Uchiha was none other than Akame Uchiha, who felt especially frustrated upon hearing about Minato. He had been nearly the best in the class during the first year if it hadn't been for Minato defeating him. Now, he was being left behind while Minato was far beyond what he might achieve in his entire life. This frustrated him deeply.
"Where are you going?" His sensei asked as soon as he saw him moving away from him while men talked nearby about the rumors.
Akame didn't answer as he advanced toward the training area.
"Answer me!" The sensei spoke again, now in a harsh tone.
"I'm going to train, sensei..." Akame simply said, not stopping his walk.
The sensei sighed. He knew the boy was frustrated. Akame continued walking through the forest until he found a place where he could train for hours without stopping to try to distract himself...
"Why... why do I feel this way?" He murmured as jealousy and anger consumed him.
He believed he would be the greatest Uchiha of his generation. Despite having demonstrated great talent by unlocking his Sharingan at six years old, his potential had not been as grand as everyone expected.
There was even a certain disappointment in the looks of the clan elders. Mikoto, the leader's daughter, also demonstrated great talent, easily surpassing him after she obtained her Sharingan too... He was a total failure.
And so, Akame trained for hours, consumed by feelings of frustration.
Meanwhile, far from there, a black and white mass emerged from the ground, observing the boy with interest. Especially the black part, which seemed pleased.
"He is quite dark..." The white part murmured.
"Yes, that's exactly what we needed." The black part replied. "That was exactly what Madara wanted. Maybe he is the chosen one." Zetsu Black spoke calmly.
After all, they needed someone to carry out the mission as soon as Madara died. They had a plan to follow. A plan that involved a certain mother sealed on the moon for the greatest manipulator of this plan.
