As she prepared her mind for the battle to come, she had everyone else leave except for Damien. Moments before she was to make her appearance on the sparring grounds, Safira embraced her mate.

She hugged him tight, almost as if she was holding onto him for dear life. She put up a brave look in front of others. But deep down her heart was pounding in her chest. As she buried her face in Damien's chest, listening to his heartbeat, she muttered to herself.

"I wish Nymeria was here."

Damien wrapped his arms around her a little tighter.

"She would be so proud of what you've accomplished. I know Yukon feels the same way too." He whispered back, hoping his words would bring her the last bit of confidence she sought to win the match.

Eventually, Safira's name was called, signaling that it was time for them to part ways. Damien gave her one final kiss of good fortune on her cheek before going to watch from the stands.
