章 400: Not Goodbye Forever

Henry left the commander's study and slowly walked down the hallway to his mother's quarters. 

Again, he knew he was putting off speaking to his mother because he wanted to postpone the reality of her tears. Even though he knew she was in good hands, he couldn't help feeling like he had abandoned her. 

He thought back to when he first joined the knighthood. The one thing he promised her was that he would continue to take care of her and make sure he didn't have to worry. Now he couldn't keep that promise because he gave the job to someone else. 

The commander was more than capable, he had to remind himself. Even more capable than he was. 

As Henry raised his hand to knock on the door, he squeezed his eyes shut before his bare fist could meet the wood.
