Olivia POV
The dark clouds rolled in, matching my mood. I wanted it over, if not then soon. The kids were my anchor keeping me there. Were it not for them I would have been a ghost already.
I couldn’t leave when they still needed me, so I swallowed the hurt and kept going.
Gritting my teeth I made my way down to the main floor of the mansion. Ellis kept far away from me, as he had for nearly a day since I’d told him off.
We slept in separate beds, but in the same house, for the first time in nearly a year. Bethany and her bullshit was hurting me in ways she never could have planned.
“Olivia,” Luke said, opening the back door.
“Luke,” I said curtly.
I said nothing more, already embarrassed enough. Nothing would have happened if I’d simply let him drive us on the zoo trip. I insisted on doing it myself, and things turned to shit again. The folly of foolish pride.
