*Several days later…*
I returned to Avenadyn alone because Akisma and Corinth stayed behind and I could only assume that he’ll be a vampire next time I saw him.
Before I even made it into the city, I heard, “Yyrdra!” while passing by siege engineers working on their weapons of war at a military camp near a large field laden with trees and catapulted rocks.
I looked around and to my delight, spotted Velador. I steered my horse over and called out, “My beloved duke.”
“You’ve been missed,” he smiled and held out his hands to receive the reins. I dismounted and we embraced for quite a while.
“I’ve missed you,” I smiled and felt warm again in his embrace.
“Come, let me show you what our friends from Arvenswal sent us in case our neighbors in the north decide to act up,” Velador said, quickly changing the subject. I wanted to run off and make love with him somewhere discreet but that would have to wait.
