Though it was kind of goofy, she wished he had been the first to tell her that too. But she hadn’t realized it was her birthday. She knew they had raided the mansion on Halloween, but with Ryuu getting hurt, the days hadn’t mattered to her as the time had flown by.
“I didn’t know today was the second of November.” She stuffed a whole strawberry in her mouth, hoping he’d leave it at that as a dribble of the berry’s juice ran down her chin.
No such luck.
“Did they not tell you what day it was? Why… how did you not know?”
Jayde sighed, shrugging her shoulders as she pushed the plate away from her. “I just didn’t. I was uncomfortable trying to get information from anyone there. Theo was… terrifying, and his soldiers were no better, even if they were cowards. Evelynn… I didn’t want to chance her getting hurt because a soldier or Theo heard me ask her things.”
