章 22: Chapter 22: The Lying Friend

"Tell me what's wrong," he told me softly.

"Nothing," I didn't even try to fake a smile because he would notice it in a second. But I couldn't tell the truth either.

"Then why have you been like this for the last few days? I'm worried," he sounded like he was, too.

"I'll get over it tonight probably," I smiled with the hope of putting it behind me.

"I'll stay with you."

"No," I shook my head. "You shouldn't leave Vito alone."

"That's why he is here," he smiled.

"Really?" I smiled with my mouth and eyeswide open. Dogs were my weakness.

"Yeah, I thought you would like it if he sleeps here with us, licking your feet sometimes," he chuckled.

"I'd love to if it's from Vito," I chuckled as well.

I realized that he was my medicine and my disease at the same time. I enjoyed each second we had. And I didn't want it to end. But I was scared to find out what I knew in my gut was true.
