章 118: Chapter 21-The Stranded Driver

I turn, running across the garage entrance and straight to the gate. I can barely see and must be careful not to slip on the cobblestone that lines our driveway. Ryder is definitely watching me like a hawk. Any wrong step, I know he will come out.

It's so windy I have to put my hand in front of my face. The trees are dancing wildly, and it looks like they will snap at any moment. Why someone would have stayed parked here is beyond me. I would've taken my chances driving ten miles an hour.

I turn and see that Ryder and Freddie are standing at the doorway. Freddie needs clarification about something. Ryder's eyes are still fixed right on me.

Once I reach the tall, black, dual-swing iron gate, they swing slightly back and forth. It isn't locked.

Odd, I tell myself. I was the last person in, and the gate was locked right after I pulled in.

Maybe when the lights went out, the gates unlocked?
