Ori kicks his feet up and rests his head on his arms while looking around at the walls of active monitors, constantly shifting information from the stock market, hacked communications, movement of important people, crime reports, and even international news updates.
This is what is possible with multiple powerful Netrunners, despite people thinking otherwise, Sekaiheiwa had pried itself into the top one-hundred companies for aspiring Netrunners to join. He'd hired twenty of them in the relatively short time the company had been running, and with Lucy, Kiwi, and Sasha's aid, most had or were close to being at the standard of even NetWatch... It also helped that they paid far more than more other companies, along with their good employee track record.
The hideout itself was deep in the bowels of Japantown, hidden in an abandoned storage facility southeast of the district. Far enough and concealed enough that the chances of anyone stumbling across it were zero to nil, even then, the defences would wipe out an ardent MaxTac team.
"David, looks like your old friend Tanaka has been busy." Ori states, tapping the barrel Six's revolver on his temple.
"And? You got a plan to off him or what, 'cuz we still got those errands for Wakako to run." David asks as he sharpens his blade in the corner of the room.
"We can do those later, Tanaka needs to be dealt with before he actually does something useful. Fortunately, I know just the person to act as bait."
...
"Gee, I wonder who you mean." he drawls, "Whatever, guy's probably still on my ass for flatlining his kid."
"Yeah, he's been on a warpath since Tanaka Jr. got dropped. Rogue's been talking about his probes into the Afterlife, apparently he wants to shut it down and crucify all the mercs... Dunno if she was being literal or metaphorical about that though..."
*Ping!*
"Hm? Oh, that's Christy." Ori says as the duo look over at the monitor on the far-side wall. He opens the channel and a face appears, not Christy's, but the temporary one she'd installed for this mission in particular.
Her role had evolved from a sometimes useful deadweight to a full-fledged spy. She'd taken her acting skills and gotten some new Cyberwaare similar to what Kiwi had, except instead of replacing just her jaw, Christy could replace her entire face when needed.
Her latest jobs have just been infiltrating Corpo parties on the arm of some execs looking to strut their stuff with a young piece of meat. Once they take her to their bed, if she can, she injects them with a hallucinogenic and aphrodisiac mix, allowing her to extract the max amount of intel without getting her hands too 'dirty'.
"Sup, Christy?"
"Ori, David, just letting you know that I finished up with that Kang Tao asshole."
"Anything interesting?"
She shakes her head, "Not really, Kang Tao are apparently upping their production on robotic combat units, but nothing concrete, guy was too blazed out of his mind to count to ten by the time we got to that point."
"Forget all that, nothin' we don't already know about." David waves her off, "Got any gossip on Tanaka?"
"Him? A bit, some circles talk about his addiction to XBDs... Say he spends most of his free time chipped into one." she shrugs, "Doubt that's any use though, not unless you wanna try and have him bite a bullet."
"XBDs?"
"You into 'em?" Ori snarks.
"Nah, I used to sling 'em for some quick cash. They aren't exactly legal, any idea where he's getting them? He's gotta have a dealer somewhere."
"No... Doubt any of the busy-bitches know anything concrete anyway. You want me to look into it? I can maybe wrangle an Arasaka office worker, no one big but the Corp has been on edge for weeks now, probably shitting themselves because of Saburo."
Ori shakes his head, "Leave it, see if you can find that cunt Koche."
"Alright, remember my fee by the way..."
*Bzztch!*
Ori looks to David, "Looks like we're still on the 'bait-plan'. Go convince Lucy to let me hold your leash for a bit and not tear my head off in the process..."
"I'll try, s'not up to me how she takes it though." he says, standing and leaving.
"Time to start planning then... Probably need to call Rogue for this one..."
---------------------
"You can't be serious!? You really expect us to just go along with this?" Lucy angrily asks. The rest of the crew had similar reactions, thinking his plans were both suicidal and incredibly stupid.
Ori holds his hands up placatingly, "Trust me, it'll work. It isn't like that's the be-all end-all anyway. We can intervene at any point if we need to."
"You say that as if we're not handing the kid over to Arasaka... What if they ship him to their tower? We'll never get him back." Falco states.
"I've spoken with 'the guy in Arasaka' about it, we'll toss David at the NCPD and have him locked up at their prison in Arroyo. Tanaka, being the sanctimonious d-bag he is, will head over there to some kicks in before scheming some way to flatline him before he can serve his sentence. We'll make sure when he enters the prison, he never leaves." Ori sums up.
"Yeah, that's a big IF he doesn't have David zeroed before he gets imprisoned." Lucy grouses.
Ori shakes his head, "He won't, David's part of the 'Zombie Crew', we'll have the arrest publically announced and make it a giant spectacle. They try anything and there'll be the biggest fucking riot since the Holocaust. We'll even add the murder of Tanaka's kid to David's crimes to give him more padding."
"And we'll be even more famous once we spring 'em. I like it!" Rebecca grins.
"Yeah? Well I think it's a pile of shit... David, tell him you're not going along with this. Killing Tanaka is fine, but it's not worth risking your life for it." Lucy presses.
"Ah..." he rubs the back of his head...
