章 19: Absorbing a soul ring
Yuhe:"Okay you are good to go now"
Weles was absorbing his soul ring right now so all of us were tasked to protect him, that's why we decided that Yuhe will heal all of us, we should be in top shape at the sea don't want any accidents.
Cai:"But how long will it take"
Currently I was in the boat, both of them were extremely close to each other, so much that I could just step into the other one. That was of course to protect Weles better.
Hei Long:"Have some patience, being rushed won't help you out in life"
Cai:"Well that is true but"
I take a quick glance into the water, the blood from the horse was spreading quite quickly around the sea .
Cai:"All of that blood may get attention of another soul beast, not that we can't beat them but they may be pretty strong, without Weles some of us might even be injured" Honestly his strength quite surprised me, his martial soul is really strong and his soul ring configuration is better than most people can hope for.
Hei Long:"Don't jinx it, or one might really appear."
As if on command from the water another soul beast started to emerge.
Hei Long:"See I told you so"
Cai:"Don't put the fault at me! He clearly appeared after you said don't jinx it so it's your fault"
As the soul beast emerged from water it's body started to become clear to us, let's just say it was bigger than all 7 of us combined, and it was a crab. It's body was fully coloured blue, it's just that its upper part was darker in colour compared to the lower half of his body.
This crab seemed to be really "special", as his mouth opened up incredibly wide, it then screeched so horrible I'd rather go deaf.
Cai:"Should a crab have, spikes. In its mouth?"
The others didn't answer me probably didn't know as well, all of them just released their martial souls so I followed along and summoned my Ice Brush. Yi Hen worked quickly and used his first soul ring, soon enough a golden chain bound us together.
That's quite a pickle we are in, this soul beast is definitely at the 10k year old level, I can just feel it's strong aura radiating from it. We had to work together to kill him fast, the guy seemed really hungry. Yi hen again used both his second and third soul rings in succession, and all of us have gotten a boost in power.
We went into a formation to protect both Yi Hen and Yuhe, they are the core of our team after all. The crab also didn't rest after seeing his power being seeped away and charged at us. Da Er quickly send out blades of wind towards him, but the carcass was tough it didn't do any damage to him at all only left a mark behind, but it was barely visible. It seemed that the only way possible to break through is with blunt force, sharp things won't work.
I quickly used my Ice brush to start freezing the water in its path, he was propelling himself forward using his water element so this greatly slowed him down. Da Yi sent out balls of flames towards it, but the crab made shields with water stopping them from reaching it.
This is tough we basically have only 3 combatants, Hei Long is useless he is an agility type soul master that uses mostly his claws to fight, this won't work on him. While Da Yi can do some damage but it would be hard considering his enemy uses water elements. It's mostly up to me and Da Er to win this battle.
The crab struggled to get to us but soon enough it reached the position of the brothers boat. It raised its huge crusher claw and smashed in the direction of the boat, Da Yi quickly caught it in his hands but he was really struggling his face was all red and he was gritting his teeth.
Da Er couldn't let his brother suffer like that he conjured some wind element in his hands and threw it at the crab, the blast hit it right in the face and he got pushed back a bit, even some of his carcass got chipped away.
Da Yi was freed from under the crabs claw but Da Er seemed to be gasping for air and was quite pale, he obviously put out a lot of his strength into this attack. The crab seemed to think they were a hard target so he changed to our boat, this is bad both of the supports are here so I will have to take this attack head on.
It used its crusher claws again, he opened them up and they got filled up by fierce water element, it quickly then moved it's open claws at us, trying to force us into our grasps. I quickly found myself in between them, the water element was surging towards me so I had to make a fast decision.
I urged my Ice Brush to start freezing the water, quickly enough it froze. I was able to catch the crushes claw after I froze it, but it was extremely hard to hold on, it kept trying to crush me between his claw.
I start feeling the wind gathering to my right and the heat there kept increasing, the crab also seemed to notice it and started to conjure a barrier of water, I wasn't able to glimpse what was happening but I saw a huge ball of fire appear before hitting the water barrier the crab conjured.
I didn't expect that was possible but it seems the mix between water, wind, and fire elements created a small steam explosion the crab got pushed to the left and pieces of his carcass flew around everywhere, there was a big web pattern on his side and I could even see his flesh. I think it was a soul fusion skill between them, not surprising considering they are twins.
A beam of soul power then hit the crab, with its broken body the crab couldn't really protect its self and the rest of his broken carcass fell off and even some of his upper body broke too, it came from Yuhe she seems to have a soul guide in her hands.
I was quite tired after all of that before but I cannot let it go now, this soul beast is on its last straw if I leave it, soon it's going to die. I can't let that happen its cultivation is between 20k to25k perfect for my first soul ring, it would be hard to absorb it, I might even die but that doesn't really matter to me I believe I can do this.
I start gathering and condensing the ice element on my Ice brush and jump towards the crab, I landed on top of it, it had a lot of cracks and that's enough for me, I stick the brush in his head and madly start releasing and generating more Ice element into it.
It's flesh was completely soft and had basically zero protection so all of it quickly started freezing, of course I couldn't do all of it but it was enough to kill it. It's body fully dropped into the water and let itself float on it, as a black soul ring came out of it. If I remember correctly I have a few minutes before it disappears so it's better I announce I'm going to absorb it. I sit on the body of the crab.
Cai:"I think I will also absorb this one, I have twin martial souls so I can do that"
Yuhe was the first one to react, she really seems to care about kids doesn't she.
Yuhe:"You can't! You are only a soul grandmaster this will kill you!"
Cai:"It's okay I was refining my body since I came out of my mother's womb, I can do this it will hurt but I should definitely be able to do this"
I don't know if there were any other objections because I quickly started to absorb the soul ring, soul power surged uncontrollably to all parts of my body and the pain couldn't be described with words alone, it's not comparable to the first time I started body refining all those years ago but I haven't felt that kind of pain in a long time.
Both of my bloodlines started to madly devour the soul power from the soul ring, it helped them grow in purity and density. The most benefit I got is from the hero's bloodline, it was devouring most of the soul power and in turn enhanced my blood essence and body more and more, as well as compressed the soul power in my body not to let it overflow.
*Cough* I spit blood from my mouth a bit, but I couldn't stop now, it would be pointless and deadly to me. The process was agonizing for me and it lasted quite a long time, much more than my soul rings before took, I guess my body needed more time to digest everything. Even though it hurt extremely, soon enough I finally opened my eyes with another soul ring absorbed.

Finally done with this chapter, started writing it yesterday but just kind of stopped, well not much to say since as I said before this is just a little outing I came up with to get mc a second soul ring without it being so easy as to just ask Weles for help, I guess the next chapter will focus on digesting the gains and more training, after that maybe a chapter for a breather and then back to the action not sure yet. I really am bad at judging how much chapters a thing is going to take, before I thought that chapter 15 would be good a good place to start a thing I wanted to start but it seems it will take much much longer.
