Suddenly, I'm hit with immense pain as black veins begin to show up on my hand. I softly cry out, gripping my wrist as I double over in pain.
What the actual fuck?
I try to use my magic to push it out but that only causes more pain! I suck in, trying to think of what to do with tears burning in my eyes. The door to my room suddenly bursts open as Bolin quickly looks around the destroyed room with worry.
My feet were still covered in mud as I sit, crumbled on the floor with my hair a mess all around my face. I'm in so much pain, my vision blurs. Suddenly, he's before me and reaching for my hand. I quickly pull away from him as I say in a shaky voice, "Don't touch it..."
Bolin grips his teeth about to argue when suddenly, the pain is gone. I look down and say, "Thank the gods..." Before leaning forward and passing out.
_________
BOLIN
Bolin quickly catches her, shock and fear running through him like fire and ice. He gently leans her back, looking her over with dark eyes filled with fear and worry. Why were her feet covered in mud? What happened to her hand?
He reaches out, trying to touch her hand again when suddenly the voice he had heard from before says, "Careful! She just extracted a dark relic and it somehow attached itself to her! Dark relics are powerful and dangerous, not to mention unpredictable!"
Bolin ignores the man's voice and grabs her small bloody hand. Under the blood, he could see faint lines of black. They stand out on her fair skin. His dark eyes narrow as he asks, "What exactly happened?"
The voice was momentarily shocked before saying, "Well, we were both sleeping, minding our own damn business then BAM! She's standing in a village barefoot! We were both confused but something was clearly wrong. She could feel the black magic in the village, and it had already killed the wildlife in the area. Humans were next so she couldn't just ignore it..."
Bolin clenches his teeth, checking her pulse and placing a hand on her forehead before saying, "What else?" The voice hesitates before saying, "She found the source and tried to pull it out. It flew into her hand and it somehow... disappeared into her body."
Bolin narrows his eyes and picks up her hand once again, looking it over as he asks, "I take that isn't normal?" The voice becomes angry as he yells, "Of course not! This wouldn't have happened if you hadn't let Dade and his stupid lackeys go! This has Dade written all over it!"
Irritation and anger roll off Bolin as he lifts her off the floor with ease. Looking at the mess her bed had become, he turns away and brings her to his room. The sun was finally up and shining with all its glory as if nothing bad had happened.
He walks straight into his room before carefully laying her on the bed with her feet hanging off the edge. He quickly disappears and comes back with a bowl of warm water. He carefully washes her feet before drying them and tucking her under the covers with gentle hands.
He disappears again but soon returns with a new bowl of warm water. He gently picks up her hand, looking it over again before gently cleaning it with the warm water. Once the blood was gone, her smooth skin was now visible.
Under the smooth skin were faint black lines, just like before. His eyes darken as he gently brushes his thumb over the palm of her hand. Regret and anger were visible in his eyes and even though the sun was out and shining brightly, the room became darker and colder by the second.
It felt as if some unknown force was baring down onto the room, making the room feel heavy and oppressed by some unknown force. The darkness seemed to move, crawl and slither along the walls, floor, and ceiling. It felt as if death was breathing down your neck.
The walls started to creak as he grits his teeth but when he notices what he's doing, everything disappears instantly and returns to normal like it never happened. He was angry. Angry at Dade and his men but angrier with himself. Angry that he allowed the roaches to live when he could have crushed them all.
He wanted to use them but instead, he had caused her harm. He had never had someone like this... someone to look after and to take care of. Someone to think of beside himself and his goals. It was all new to him but with one wrong move, he has hurt her. It made his chest hurt, making it hard to breathe.
To hell with the world, he couldn't care less about it but her? She was his bottom line. He didn't even realize it until he saw her crouched over in pain. The scene made his cold hard heart clench with fear and worry. It felt as if something was tearing at him from the inside.
He regretted it, he regretted it so much he wished he could go back and undo all of it but there was no medicine for regret. He reaches out, lightly touching her pale face but when he sees the tremble in his hand, he freezes with shock.
He barely knows her and yet... he was this shaken up already. He grits his teeth, pushing her dark hair out of her face as he watches her sleep. Time and time again, she seemed so powerful and terrifying but yet she remains so fragile and small. So precious and magical.
He will find them and kill them all. He couldn't risk her for his plans because if he were to lose her... suddenly, the plans he had been working on for years would all be for nothing. His eyes look at her with warmth and gentleness that he's never shown before. Something he didn't think he was even capable of.
"Haun..." He calls out while gently stroking her soft hair. Haun shows up and fights to keep from trembling. He can feel his Master's anger from here, threatening to choke him or anyone who gets in his way. Bolin keeps his dark eyes on Lyra as he says, "I want their exact location. I will kill them all."
Suddenly the voice yells, "WAIT!! You can't kill Dade now!! He's done something with the dark relic! We need to find out exactly what he's done! If we kill him before that, it might make things much MUCH worse! Magic isn't something you can play around with! If the spell is cut off from the caster in the wrong way... it may end up killing Lyra!"
