Aláine's Point of View
We arrived back at the packhouse just after midnight. There had been quite a few changes in the last two days. The first one was a security gate, still being constructed at the driveway's entrance. Two guards were standing by it, checking everyone as they came in.
When we got to the top of the drive, some lighting had been installed alongside the house. It wasn't very bright, but due to my wolf senses, it didn't need to be. I could clearly see a guard walking around the outside of the house and some by the treelines.
"There will be guards permanently at the gate and outside the packhouse from now on," explained Kristof. "I should have done this before."
Kristof looked sad when he said the last part. I reached up and kissed him.
"It wasn't your fault," I said. "Viktor would have found a way, and no doubt, more people would have been injured or even killed."
"We'll never know," he replied, "but I am not taking any chances."
