Alger then stood up, holding a piece of paper in his hand. He adjusted his glasses before speaking in a loud voice. "My name is Alger Bournee. I'll be the representative of Her Majesty the Queen, so I will read the indictments to the defendant."

Ruby's grip on Matthew's hand grew stronger as she waited for Alger to read out her indictments against her family.

"First, based on the testimony of Her Majesty the Queen, the Marquess and Marchioness Barnette have committed child abuse against Her Majesty the Queen and her late brother, Oscar Barnette. The Marquess and Marchioness Barnette often treated them harshly and left them to starve to death."
