Over the next three days, a steady flow of mercenaries and adventurers made its way into the Otoan capital. A necessary smokescreen for the operation to come. As a nation built on trade, Oto had not invested much in its nation's military.

There were two reasons for this. One was that there was no need. The barrier priestesses alone had enough might on their own to suppress an army, and they had enough members in reserve to send them out for excursions. The only reason Lana hadn't done so was that the situation was not dire enough to call for it. The strength of her priestesses when defending the walls was well known, but no one knew of their capabilities without those walls to hide behind.
