" You look like a group of beasts, waiting to be unleashed into the world. Especially, you two, I feel great power from you."
Fortress Master commented his thoughts honestly, looking at Daemon and Licht who were looking at him with calm gazes. He could tell one was a wild beast while the other was an apex beast who was still a cub. As for others, he could tell their types with a single glance. Two hunters, one uncontrollable disaster, and an assassin.
If he picked the most troublesome opponents, he would pick Licht and Daemon.
" Nice to meet you, I am Licht Silvercrest. A magic swordsman from the west and this is our captain Regina Springfield. We are here to visit the holy capital."
Licht said lightly while taking out the token that he got from an elder. Fortress Master seemed to recognize the token, checking if it was a real deal or not. He put down the token on his table, gesturing for his men to clear out of the room.
He leaned on his chair while placing his hands together with a complicated expression because he didn't want to send them back.
" Elder Blue always took care of me until I decided to become the Fortress master. He used to say the black market was the worst decision in my life, but what I could do in this situation? Our city needed an immense amount of wealth to stand against these monsters. We are the vanguard of our empire, the first and last defense of the desert."
Fortress Master spoke, stroking his notes with a gentle expression. He truly cared for well beings of his people and to protect them he would gladly dirty his hand.
Licht seemed to understand his resolve because he had something to protect as well. He looked at his squad members and recalled the faces of his family members who were waiting for him in the forest. As a man, he was an ambitious man with a soft heart and just heart, but as a soldier, he had to carry out orders of higher-ups.
" I understand your dilemma, sir, but all we want is to find something useful there. We don't like crimes or similar things."
Regina said with confidence as she showed her badge of early days. Fortress Master understood they were here on a mission and they didn't have any ill intentions, thus he decided to trust them. Agam vouched for them after all. This shrewd man was a fool in other's eyes, but he was a loyal protector of this country with a clear mind.
" Alright, I will send a man to help you. However, you must not disclose your identities to others. Also, stay away from alleys because there are some nasty things there."
Fortress Master warned them while handing them tickets with numbers. They carefully put away the tickets as they got up from their seats. Licht and Regina nodded at him while heading toward the door with heavy expressions due to his warning. This night was going to be more difficult than they initially thought.
" Agam, what do you mean that?"
Cynthia asked curiously, blinking her big eyes a few times with confusion. They seemed to be worried about dark things, but in her calculations, they were strong enough to blast a district. Especially Daemon, Licht, and Lisha could destroy everything in their way with sheer brute force while she could cast large scale magic.
"... Black market isn't a simple place. Although you are mostly level 5 or 6 which are advanced mortals, the market has countless underground forces with such leveled people. They would drug, abduct, and sell people in broadlight because they have absolute control over their territory."
Agam said lightly, wrinkling his face with unpleasant thoughts. The sight of those bastards was carved in his mind as he remembered something disgusting. He recalled the faces of living beings who were either desperate to live or die in those hell holes. Some of them were experimented alive, some of them were raped or abused and some of them felt endless hunger.
In other words, places like this should be the den of evil under the nose of orders. They operate in darkness while spreading their evil.
